Does Juice defender work on Fascinate for battery issues?

I have been told by some that the Juice Defender app to save battery works but saw some reviews and some say doesn't help, what is your input?

I have been using it for sometime, but I think the standard free version is ok, but if you shut down apps, wifi, and syncing yourself, you really don't need this app
