Message/Pic Transfers From Old Phone?

Just bought a new Motorola Rapture and regretfully declined help with the transferring of precious saved messages and pictures from my old phone (which I still have and can access the info). How do I do this? Or do I go back to the experts at the store and make it easy?? :smileyhappy:

There are some software packages available around the internet. Two that come to mind are BitPim and Motorola's P2K Commander.
I have had mixed results with these. This boils down to: are you willing to potentially spend hours getting the software to work (as I did), or face the possibliity of destroying the phone because this software allows you to browse the filesystem just as if it were a computer disk. Deleting the wrong file would kill the phone. The advantage is, you now have this media on a PC; no cost to send the pix as you can store, email them, etc.

Taking the phone into a store and paying a few bucks can save you much frustration. However, the media will be transferred to your new phone rather than onto a PC.

There is a number of ways to do it, but the easiest by far is to go back to your local Verizon dealer and have them do it

If your old phone is bluetooth compatible, you can transfer the files (pictures, videos, and I think music, though that is a little more locked down) from your old phone to your new phone via bluetooth

You can also send the files to your computer via bluetooth, then take those files and put them on your new phone (either send them via bluetooth if possible, or text them to your new phone from the Verizon texting site)

Given you have the proper USB drivers for your phone from Verizon (I doubt there is), you may be able to transfer your data via USB (I have tried this myself with no success)

Like I said, the easiest would be to to to your local Verizon retailer and ask them to transfer it over for you, they have a special transferring device used to transfer data from any 2 phones, and it's a lot smoother than a bluetooth transfer
