Will Verizon confirm the upcoming Droid update?

All we have seen up until now is rumors. Meanwhile, we as user continue to struggle with a number of bugs, and some features we would like to see. All we have is a leaked memo right now, and we can't depend on it. Will someone from Verizon please come online hear and at least confirm we will be seeing an update... possibly give us a little sugar on the details?

No. No one from Verizon Wireless is allowed to give any insider information as it can and will lead to that employee's termination. We continually strive to update our devices s/w as necessary.

There's another reason Verizon wont confirm ANYTHING until it's "out there".

Verizon wont confirm anything until it's ready for the public. We witnessed this as Blackberry STorm 1 users saw canada and europe get updates and VZW customers were left wondering if they weren't good enough for the OS 5 update, when in fact, VZW wanted to make sure the update was good enough for it's customers.

Yeah the update has been verified. The SDK has already been dumped so developers can work on it. It is 2.0.1 so no Flan update yet. I am sure that will be an exclusive only available to the one phone that comes with it like the DROID was which made everyone so mad. Yeah gotta think Google didn't learn their lesson there so expect to not get a FLAN update for several months after the first phone gets it. the update is supposed to fix call reception, the autofocus, and some other infrastuctural concerns.

By the way the phone is great the hardware is top knotch. The problems with the DROID are mostly because it was developed in a Bubble the way something like this should never be developed. DROID got an exclusive release with Android 2.0 and in so doing Android 2.0 was designed with this phone in mind and a bit rushed and by 3 companies each with their own interest in what got what. The SDK wasn't dropped until the phone and OS had been out for a while to ensure secrecy. I get that it was a big deal that Verizon brought an actually smart smart phone to market and so a big launch was necessary but an exclusive premature launch of Android 2.0 was more counter productive than helpful and until the SDK was dropped no one could port their programs. That is why other Linux distrobutions go through significant public beta with full source availability all along to ensure the product is ready for launch. Hopefully something was learned here and the SDK will drop before future OS upgrades much like this one. Something has to be done about the updates. It is working against Android to have 3 versions with such radical infrastructural differences running on active phones. It is one thing to continue to support phones with outdated verisons and quite another to be trying to actively promote and develop for 3 or more active versions. I hope that in the future Google will move towards a better model for OS upgrades and that the SDK will be available early enough to allow companies who provide unique UI's to make the necessary adjustments. Or even better just make the Vanilla UI SENSE and be done with it. LOL. The harder and more confusing you make it on consumers and developers the faster the obsolescense.

I wonder if the problem of the signal going all crazy on the phone will be fixed on the Dec. 11th update.

Maybe something to help with battery life?
