am i the only one with overheating issues?

This is my 2nd x and the problem is worse than before my phone gets very hot very fast less than 2 mins on average usually during mundane stuff texting and calls and everytime I use the web 3g and wifi I use stock everything and did this before any apps on both phones and on occasion gets very hot in my pocket. Its the area below the battery the processor im guessing. Its annoying during calls because the same area on the screen gets hot so I feel it on my face can any share a similar experience or fix?

Ok call support they are sending a phone and battery this time said possible short in the battery but sent both to be safe ...ugh flippin holiday weekend I get it Wednesday maybe my boxers wont ignite before then lol

I don't think overheating that fast is normal. Mine gets pretty hot, too, if I use it for more than 5-10 minutes at a time.

I'd say bad battery. When your replacement phone arrives, try changing just the battery and see if that solves your issues.

Just a side note: The "hot" area is USUALLY the lower part of the phone, right? I find that web surfing and heavy-video stuff will cause that area to get pretty warm. Presumably it is where the CPU for the phone is installed. The Battery is more to the upper/middle of the phone. Is THAT where it is getting HOT?

Every smart phone I've ever had gets hot while in use, but a couple of minutes is way too fast.

I know there are some people who have overclocked their device which of course will make it run hot. I don't know if that is your case though.
