GPS signal gone again

I bought my Fascinate back in the fall, and have been happy with everything except the GPS signal. When the upgrade to the software came out a couple months ago, my GPS signal improved dramatically. I could pinpoint my location on the Google maps or with another geocaching app that I bought. Life was good.

However, since the most recent upgrade to EA28, my GPS reception seems to have reverted back to its original state. I'm now getting a reading of accurate to1800 meters. :smileysad:

Has anyone else experienced this? Any way to back out of the "upgrade"?

The paid apps will show up when you open the market and you can redownload them again. You'll have to manually search for and install the free ones unless you're using something like app brain. All application data will be lost unless it stores it on the sd card. If you use gmail for your contacts, make sure it's set to sync under accounts & sync. Also, you'll need to redo your settings and you'll lose your text messages but there are apps in the market like SMS Backup & Restore (only does SMS, no mms) that can backup/restore those. Good thing about Froyo (when it gets here for the masses) is that it will automatically download ALL apps and keeps more of the system settings.

One thing I noticed from the DI09 update was that VZNavigator was running in the background. I think Verizon is having the GPS use that to give your location on the map. They won't charge you as long as you don't use the navigation feature through VZNavigator. Navigation (the Google version) is free to use so that's not an issue even if VZNavigator is running in the background.

IF you're using an application killer, you'll have to tell it to ignore or not kill VZNavigator.

Yes, there seems to be an issue affecting some of the phones since the EA28 update. Search the boards and look for EA28 update, and you can see what people are talking about.

As far as "backing it out", I am not sure, but you may have to factory reset it, and when walk through the updates as you get them, and not install the EA28 update. Something else to keep in mind, there is also a "rumor" out there that 2.2 Froyo might start getting pushed out on Tuesday, so I would hang off on doing that for a day or so, unless it is that important that you need it right now. See if it does get pushed out, and that may fix your problem also.

Thanks. I do not have an app killer, so I don't believe that is the issue. As for waiting for Froyo, it took 3 months just to get the initial upgrade, so I don't think it's coming any time soon.

If I do the factory reset, do I lose the apps I've paid for? What other "gotcha's should I be aware of if I reset?
