duplicate copies of e-mails

I have a Droid 2 and one of my e-mail accounts is a POP3 server based Comcat.net. I get 2 and sometimes 3 copies of each e-mail on my Droid.Is this a known issue with Droid and POP3 mail server or do I have a setting incorrect? My other e-mail accounts (IMAP servers) do not have this issue. Also, the POP3 was working correctly and the issue seems to come and go. Please advise. Thanks!

My wife tried using her comcast account on her original droid. It just doesn't work very well.
There is an xfinity app in the market that seems more consistent.
