Syncing phone contacts w/computer

I was told my Droid Charge would sync with my Gmail account automatically. When I enter a calendar appt. it goes to my computer, but I can't get contacts on my phone to sync with my Gmail contacts on the computer. Any ideas? I've emailed them as a v-card from my outlook, but can only import 1 at a time. Since I have over 800 contacts, that process is a bit tedious. Help!

Try this: From the main screen of your phone, select the menu key (located at the below your touch screen on the bottom-left), then select  "Settings" from the pop-up screen. Scroll to and select "Accounts & Sync", and then scroll to and select your Gmail account. Make sure you have a green checkmark next to "Sync Contacts".
