Droid X2 freezing / frozen / stuck always after nightly charge

I have had a Droid X2 for about 3 weeks now, and it has been repeatedly causing this same problem:

After a night of charging, I wake up to check my e-mail, and the phone is completely unresponsive. I try unplugging it, holding the power button, pressing all the buttons, nothing works. I even tried to plug it into my computer and it did not respond. The phone is ON, because the green light is blinking throughout this ordeal. I even tried to call the phone, and it does not ring despite the blinking green light showing it is on.

This is happening almost every night, and has even happened twice during the day. Notice that other users on other sites are experiencing similar problems, with absolutely no solutions available.

Verizon/ Motorola: is this a confirmed problem, and will it be corrected with a patch? The phone is essentially a brick for anyone who 1) wants to use it as an alarm clock or 2) needs to be "on call" over night.

There are dozens of users who have posted this same problem online! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hear you, and understand your frustrations! At the time you posted your concerns Motorola hadn't yet released the software update to Gingerbread, but has since. Have you had a chance to update your devices software to the latest? The update resolved many of the issues you are experiencing with your Droid X 2. We have multiple forums on this issue and some different suggestions to resolve it. The most effective step to resolving this issue seems to the removal of any apps that could be causing issues with your device. We also recommend a master reset that would reset the phone back to default settings. There are other suggestions, like running your phone in safe mode.

@ KinquanaH_VZW What is the point of this phone if it will not run with apps. Or if I continually have to do a hard reset. I have had similar problems. I am currently on my 2nd Droid X2. My first phone (New phone) was totally unusable. This phone is quickly getting there. Before I sent the last phone back I did try using it with no third party apps and had the same issues so I know it's not a function of the applications. With this one it will force close out of Pandora, Netflix, NPR, Youtube, Scrabble, and pretty much any app that uses data. I've also noticed that it will freeze up while typing and that it has problems coming out of stand by mode (3-10 second lag after hitting the power button.). Oh and when playing music from the stock media player there seems to be problems when the phone does anything else. Music will skip if I open and use another app or if I put the phone in stand by mode or take it out of stand by mode. And heaven forbid I use an app like scrabble. So.... Any other suggestions? I am actually looking for a solution. It would be nice to have a working Android device. I loved my Nexus One while on T-mobile and I'm hoping I can have a similar experience on the Verizon network.

I don't know if this matter was actually "solved" for the user who posted about this issue, but I doubt it somehow. If you'd bother to read any of the discussions about this issue--both on this site and elsewhere--you'd notice that most users (including me) didn't have the issue until after the software update. Any phone--especially new phones like the X2--crashing/freezing while charging over night is a huge issue. Verizon/Motorola should be doing everything in their power to fix this. And the constant reliance on factory resets as solutions to most Droid X/X2 problems is getting really, really old.
