I just recently upgraded my phone, but I didn't think to move the pix and videos to online storage before I did. Is there a way for me to move the media over now or is it stuck on the phone forever?
A couple of options, depending on your particular situation...
Does your old phone have a memory card in it (like a microSD) card that the pictures are stored on? Does your new phone take the same type of card? If so, you can just put the old card into the new phone, then transfer the pix to the new phone's onboard memory -- or just leave the card there if you want.
If your new phone doesn't take the same type of card, all is still not lost. Check phone/camera accessory stores for a microSD adapter. It looks just like a regular SD card, but you slide a micro card into it. Then if your computer has a slot to read SD cards, you should be able to copy your pictures directly onto your computer, then transfer them to your new phone.
Or you could just attach your old phone to your computer via USB, transfer the pix, then transfer them from the computer to your new phone.
The timing of your question was nice....about an hour ago, I just transfered a bunch of pictures from my old phone to my new one. The new one is a Kin Twom, which doesn't have a separate memory card. So I removed the microSD card from the old phone, used an adapter to plug it into an SD reader on my computer and transferred all the images. Then I used the Zune software to transfer them to the new phone. Worked like a champ.
Good luck.
Thank you RTFM,
No, your pictures are not stuck in that phone forever. RTFM gave some great suggestions. What type of phones do you have (old and new)? The way to transfer pics varies depending on the capabilities of each phone.
