Hey, I just came out of water from saving a child and cell phone went in with me. I have called Verizon customer service, waited 15 min and hung up, Tried several local Verizon stores and no answer.

On another occasion I lost T-Mobile phone, went to Walmart and bought a replacement phone for $19.99 and inserted chip and used for 1 year before moving to Verizon.

Walmart has what looks like a very similar phone for $29.88. Can I buy this phone and just get my contacts from Verizon and move on? Any thoughts?

if you were using backup assistant to automatically backup your contacts, then verizon has them.

Great feedback. Indeed, Backup Assistant can have your contacts stored, if you set it up before this incident. Thanks again to the community! Douglas, when looking to replace a damaged phone, you have several options. The first I would recommend is to see if you have Wireless Phone Protection (WPP) or Total Equipment Coverage (TEC) on that line. You don't have to call Customer Service to determine this. Just look at your bill. If you have it, you'll see either WPP or TEC under your monthly service charges for that line. If you're still looking to buy a replacement through retail, please inquire with the retailer as to the Terms & Conditions for the phone of your choice. Some phones are priced lower as part of an upgrade offer, while others are specified for VZW's prepaid services.
