Status of the Storm?

Howdy gang-

my wife and i are finally looking to update our **bleep** LG chocolate phones after 3 years. with the new every two credit + buy one, get one free on the BB's, we can get 2 free bb's, just not the tour... Wife has already settled on the Curve, I would rather have the bigger screen and 3G over the keyboard, so I am thinking of the Storm, BUT-

Storm reviews are really mixed. Searching the forums, I get the idea the Storms big problem was a bad/buggie OS at launch. I also read year there was an "official" update to the OS, but after that, there is not much talk about the Storm.

So what is the story with the Storm? Is it "fixed"? Did the new OS patch create more issued? Should I pass on the Storm and get a Curve, like my wife?

Welcome to the forums. There's been a lot of rumor talk lately about the new Storm coming soon, but it is just that...rumor. I've not heard a definite date. Some say October, others say later. The Storm right now has been a good device for a lot of users. Personally, I did not want the touch screen, so I went with the Tour. What sold me on the Tour was the bright, vivid colors from the screen, the QWERTY keyboard, and the large main memory. The Storm, though, is a very good device and right now is priced very good, especially with the BOGO offer. The Curve is a good Blackberry and is probably one of the best sellers among Blackberrys. Which ever one you decide, I think you will be happy. Good luck on your decision.

Ps: Just read a story stating the Storm 2 is due out around the 29th of September. Also, the article states it and all other Blackberry devices forthcoming will include WiFi. We'll just have to see...

Thanks, but I'm not worried about the Storm2 - the big selling point now is 2 free phones... and as the latest & greatist, the storm2 will not be free, I bet... :smileyhappy:

Hi Jerry, I have had my Storm since 8/30 and have had virtually no problems with it. The hardest point is learning all the features it has. Doc I do not understand the colors you refer to, mine has plenty. I have a free Corvette them ( made for the Storm ) I downloaded from Crackberry and the colors are fantastic. My current memory is an 8GB card which I can put a 16 GB card instead. The my accuracy on the touch screen is getting better all the time. A real learning curve. I have at least 3 keyboard options of which I prefer the Qwerty because that is what I have at home. A lot of help is available at Verizons 800# as they have a BB team which doesns nothing but work on BB's. They even connected me to a BB tech when I was having a problem. One thing I found out from Verizons BB team was to go into my email tools, optons,and change the settings to leave the emails on the server. I wasn't always getting all the emails now I do. Then yesterday I was deep into the settings and found an option to change from delete to delete both the server and the BB. Now when I delete an email off BB I don't have to select to do that it is automatic. I have found by changing some settings in the BB what they will do. When it is in holster for more than 5min it is suppose to do an auto clean which you may or maynot have in your tour. Therefore it looks like I may not have to pull the bat. so much.

I have replied from BB to this board only to find out now they do not go thru. My guess is I am not logged in and it never gave me the option to log in. I have no idea where the emails went??? LOL

Yes I debated the Storm 2 and they will not be included in this current promotion even if you try to do a 30 day exchange. The current OS seems very stable. We may get the Storm 2 OS in the end however.

ok, I pulled the trigger. one storm, free after "new every 2" credit, and one free curve, BOGO, for the wife. I figuer in 30 days I should know if I need to send it back for a curve.
