Download Failed

So I've been having this problem for a little over a month now since they sent out the firmware update. Right now I'm currently on build number 1.12.605. And when I go to software update and do check new it tells me there is a new software update and when I click okay it goes for a few sec and then I get the error download failed and then it goes back to the software update screen. Any help on this would be great. Thanks!

take the battery out & try again.

That one update is causeing some to do serious reboot. HTC said the update is not recommended so there not pushing it out to any more phones. That could explain ur problem.

Good Afternoon!

Can you verify if the other data services are working on your device? Like the Internet, Email, Google Talk? If we can determine that it is an issue with the Market, we can better resolve the issue. You can perform a master reset as a troubleshooting step. If you do not want to do that at first, I would recommend contacting Google through support on their Android support page so they can correct the Market internally.

OMG ... If you haven't installed the dreaded 1.13 update yet, DON'T! That's the one causing all the problems with multiple reboots and other heinous issues people have been suffering. Keep the 1.12 version you have and be thankful you have it until a more stable update is released. Don't install any update until it's been out a little while and watch the forums for complaints before you do.

you have the original firmware. KEEP IT! you don't want anything to do with the update as it fixed nothing and ruined many devices.

Don't do it so horrible but HTC won't allow it to go thru I think. Why did the verizon rep think it was a market thing. That person should know it has to do with A software update. Is it true hotspot 4g $30 for unlimited

sorry for the rant but Every month it changes move it out a month now mid July. I can't do anything but replace it get very bad. It is so easy for Verizon to say wait but it is hard to tolerate. Yes its a good phone so I'm not quiting on it but we should get something for tolerateing the bad ones. Verizon U keep on sending out ones with the bad update I dont know why but it is getting to much as well as very untolerable. Some reps don't know its a problem but it should be known by now. Is it true 4g hotspot $30 for unlimited? 3g phones desirve something great too. We will know tomorrow.

that's what i read. they are rumored to be just going to a straight $30 for unlimited on hot spot. i guess we'll see. it's now July 7th.

I got the unlimited today 4 $30 only if u have the unlimited reg data plan. Thank you Verizon for giving something special and great. For all the troubles we have had we desirve this.

Thanks everyone but now I still can't download the latest one that came out that. When I go to settings and check new it tells me i have a new software update that is 73.74 MB and when I click on okay to download that one I get download failed again.

It sounds like the update has already been pushed to your phone since it is showing available. Are you showing 3G on your phone or connected to Wifi? I would suggest turning off Wifi if it is on. Make sure you have good signal and the battery is at least half full. Try pulling out the battery and checking for the upgrade again. If it is still failing, you may need to submit a factory reset and the update should come thru after that. I would suggest waiting a few days before trying the reset just in case there is a delay. A factory reset will wipe all data from the device, it will not delete anything on the SD card. You will need your Gmail to setup the phone again.

From the home screen, touch Menu
Touch Settings
Touch SD & phone storage
Touch Factory data reset
Tap Reset phone
Tap Erase everything

Yeah my phone is showing 4G and I have a full signal. I will wait it out because I'm not trying to do a factory reset if I don't have to.

If it is 1.13 .605.7 u do not want it. That's why its failed. Update to the newer one its great. U don't know why the VZW employee us not asking which one is failing. U could be pushing the bad one still. The new replacement soon will have the newest one if it continues to fail

We received some information that some devices don't have the update yet and it will be pushed by 7/18 (of course dates are subject to change). If it's still not available by then, please send me a PM with your name and number so I can do some further troubleshooting.

There is a manual update available. There's a thread linking you to the file in the Thunderbolt forum. It means a factory reset so it is your choice.

You can also search on www.droid-life.com for the article they had posted with the file.

I saw that article when it first came out. I really do not to do a factory reset if at all possible.

I am just going to call again this morning and take there offer for a different phone.

Why does a factory reset scare people so much? I did receive the update via OTA and updated my Tbolt. However I was having some issues with the 3G mobile network connection. It improved each day after the update so much I that I probably didn't need to do what I did this weekend. Yes it was the "dreaded" factory reset. I was prepared to do one whether or not I got the OTA update or not. I had the manual file downloaded and ready if I wanted to go that route. I didn't lose any contacts, sms messages and the applications I "needed" backed up were done so. I have my contacts re-synced, sms messages restore, the majority of the applications reinstalled. So much that the exception of a few empty spots on my homescreens, I couldn't tell that my phone was factory reset last night.

Hello Ann154,

I did a factory reset last weekend on the recommendation of customer service.

My items did not resync correctly and it took 8 hours to wipe the phone again and put all my stuff back on.

I am a little weary of doing that again.

I don't think it should take this long to do a patch update.

Those who want to do it manually should be able to install it.

Lt-Belspur,

If you still have not received the update, please PM me your name and mobile number. We have a way to escalate this to get the update pushed to the phone. And alternate way to have the software pushed is to visit a corporate store, have them swap your SIM card into another 4G device, wait until activation completes, then switch back to yours. The update should go thru once you switch back to your phone.
