Help!!! LG Octane won't stop talking!

There were a few threads from '09 and '10 about phones going to "talking mode" but they were for other phone models (LG VX500 & LG Chocolate). People offered advice about how to solve the problem but in most cases did not work for the original poster. In a couple of cases a person claimed to solve their own problem.

However my wife's new LG Octane is now doing it. Further I just ordered one of the same phones online today which I expect to have in a few days. We tried all of the suggestions, adjusting for different menu sequences as best we could, to no avail.

About the only thing that helped was my wife turned speaker to earpiece and then at least it was muffled.

Nevermind!!!

My wife got the talking to stop by going to Digital Dial Readout and turning it off. We thought that was done before but maybe she backed out instead of pressing OK to select Off. By the way it took printing out the menu tree to really understand how to navigate the menus. Whew!

P.S. We know about the settings that announce incoming calls but it is mainly when typing letters, numbers, and other keys that the phone talking is most annoying.

I'm willing to bet this is the case in MANY situations - you select the correct option, but then "back out" instead of selelcting SAVE. So, you THINK you have the correct choice, when in reality, you haven't changed anything....glad you got it figured out!

Had the same problem. Try this:

Menu>>messaging>>settings (the soft key)>>TXT auto view>>Off

On displays the message

On+Readout automatically diplays and reads the text alound

Off gives you privacy by requiring you to open the message to view it.
