Calendar reminders (notifications) still NOT working, even after 602 update.....

So, Verizon Wireless released the 602 update to the Gingerbread OS for the Droid X, and the calendar reminder popups (notifications) are still NOT working properly.

This is VERY frustrating, as I use these notifications (reminder pop ups) for everything from business related (meetings, etc) to personal (when to take medicines, etc).

It's also VERY frustrating because BEFORE Gingerbread, when the Droid X ran Froyo, there was NOT a problem with the calendar and its reminders.

I would assume that there are MANY, MANY people being affected by this issue...and I wonder why Verizon hasn't "put the heat" on Google to FIX this issue which is clearly related to the Android OS, more specifically, Gingerbread.

I used to like the Droid X very much, but now I'm counting the days until I can get an iPhone. At least you know what you're getting, and won't have an update "break" functions of the phone.

So, Verizon, if you're listening... PLEASE get this calendar notification problem FIXED.

Here's a question, when you did the OS update did you try hard resetting because when a major software fix or update is released I have noticed that some of the upgrades still don't take until the device has been reset because of apps installed that restricted the update from doing the required changes to the OS... Just something to consider.

Yup. Hard Reset from the menu choice when phone was running.

Then when that didn't work, I accessed the service partition and wiped the phone and the cache from there and had it reload.

STILL having problems with the notifications.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? My calendar notifications don't always work and I have the latest 4.5.605.MB810 update from Motorola. This is a real problem for me as I heavily use these notifications. I use them as alarms to help me wake up at the right time, business meetings, and reminders to go to sleep. I find the morning and nighttime reminders to fail almost all the time. Others said this seems to coincide with long periods of inactivity prior to the timer, and my experience confirms this. Did Motorola put in some sort of power saving sleep mode if you don't use your phone for an hour or two? This is VERY frustrating and I am seriously considering alternatives. It is unacceptable to me that Motorola/Verizon have done nothing to fix this problem since it first appeared in June 2011 (4 months ago), especially since it is such a vital feature for some people and since they forced this upgrade on us. I am so mad. As if I don't have better things to do with my life than to deal with upgrade issues.

Please help! Would like to know if other apps or phones are better, [Edited to comply with Terms of Service]

Have you tried the "Clear Cache" procedure? And if that didn't fix it the "FACTORY RESET" procedure?

Cody 21, this is my first time posting here. I too have a droid x with reminders on the calendar that fail constantly. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate all the testing you did. Do you or anyone else know if there are any more updates on this issue? Thank you in advance for your help

Sorry - no I haven't ... Over at the Moto forum, the forum Manager stated that they ARE working on a "fix" to the plethora of GB issues ... but they refuse to offer any more than that -- e.g., WHAT will be fixed, WHEN the software update will be released.

For now, if the Calendar issue is something you really need to work, the aforementioned suggestion (Load Monitor) or some other Calendar App might be your only approach for now.

Or.... you switch to the iPhone like I finally did and since then have had not a single problem whatsoever with any calendars, or even the onscreen keyboard not being accurate when typing (that was another GB failure).

I've given my wife the DroidX and she's now complaining about the calendar thing. She keeps asking me, "but didn't it work when you first got the phone?" I explained that was with Froyo and ever since they updated to GB there were problems. Now she wants to get an iPhone. LOL

She did ask why noone has started a class action lawsuit to get the problem fixed. I said that probably there aren't enough people still using the original DroidX that are affected by the problem.

It is frustrating for those who still use the original DroidX.

Multiple phone calls to VerizonWireless about this problem had resulted in nothing really happening (that's how the phone was replaced twice with the same problems each time because it's an OS problem and not a hardware problem).

Thanks again, I did install Load Monitor two days ago & unfortunately have had a failed reminder each morning! One was a recurring, the other was new? So, that obviously didn't work either. I've got a friend who says I should root my phone & remove motoblur and this will most definitely fix the problem. I'm still just a little weary of rooting.

.. not to mention that you will violate the TOS and get no further support. Just sayin' :smileywink:

Hopefully a MOTO fix will be released sooner rather than later. (They "claim" that they have not abandoned the DX.) This bug was introduced with the release of GB.

I set all of my appts on my phone itself so syncing isn't the problem. Last night I had a failed reminder while watching tv and I had just used my phone about 4 minutes prior so sleeping shouldn't have been an issue either, and it wasn't charging so I'm at my wits end!

Oh and I also purchased Business Calendar which I love! But still failed reminders all the time!

I have been tearing my hair out about this since July, trying just about everything. I thought I'd found a solution with Load Monitor (from this forum), but it stopped working after about a week. I called Verizon this morning, and lo and behold they're finally acknowledging this as an irresolvable issue. They're overnighting me a new device with 2.2 installed on it, and I'm supposed to return my current device to them. It took forever (and an unconscionable number of botched alerts) to get to this point, but we're finally here.

Hey guys, there's an update for Droid X. I just downloaded it and System Version now is 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US. I did a test and the reminder was not late. That doesn't mean that the problem is solved, since the late reminder problem happens to me only sometimes. Have you guys downloaded the upgrade? Still having late reminders?
