battery is fully charged but icon is grey with exclamation point over it - what does this mean? when it does disappear my battery shows regular but this icon stays there most of the time.
phone is less then a week old from the Verizon store with the issued battery. The first phone I had like this worked only 1.5 days and had to take it back because it would not tun on.
Thanks community for your responses. I have not seen this issue on the Incredible 2. Have you tried pulling out the battery and leaving it out for a few seconds?
Got my Incredible 2 on July 5th and am seeing the same issue with the batery icon. In addition, on at least 3 occasions the phone powered itself off only to show the fully charged green battery icon upon powering up.
Yes took battery out for one minute, replaced correctly and securly but still get the same result. This does not happen all the time just some days. Usually phone is sitting on my desk and I notice this.
Thanks for the feedback, then. I'm going to recommend that we speak in person. Can you please send me a personal message with your name and phone number? Thanks!
I have the same problem. I leave the phone on it will charge for like a minute or 2 and then it will stop charging and now I have the grey exclamaiton point on my Batter picture. I have tried different outlets/Different chargers/Car Charger and charging with the batter off. Also took the batter out and put it back in ... no dice.
Desparate to resolve ? Anyone figure this out yet. Phone is only a few months old.
I am still having this problem and the local store I went to has not heard about this before. Still need help.

Thanks for posting. I understand how this can be a frustrating issue with your battery icon. In order to resolve your issue can you please PM me your mobile telephone number so I can research your account and see what kind of options we have for you? Thanks.
I just had this issue also...any advice? I have to have my phone on 24-7 for work. Thanks.
Also having this problem, been happening for about a week now...?
I am noticing the same thing on my droid incred 2. I have had the phone about a yr and it just started last week. Tried to take out the battery and still occurred. It will randomly switch from green to gray. This is frustrating as I have no way to fix it permenantly.
I had this issue with my Incredible 2 it was an OEM battery not very old. Since the phone was under warrenty I was sent a new battery and that did the trick. Have not had any issues since.
Just recently my droid incredible 2 has started doing that. I don't drop my phone or anything, there's no water damage, and I've had it for over a year. Should I take it to a verizon store or no?
Good afternoon and thank you for all of your responses.
I'd be pretty frustrated with this unknown battery icon constantly appearing on my phone. The issue with the battery icon turning grey with an exclamation point could be because an incompatible battery is being used, or it is just defective. Replacing the battery with a new one will resolve this issue. Please send a Direct Message, and I will be happy to personally assist you with your battery replacement options.
Thank you,

Hi Vanessa, I am having the same grey battery issue and don't seem to be able to send you a direct message... When I chose your user name, the system wouldn't allow it to be sent... seemed like it was due to you being a Verizon rep?
I have the same problem Vanessa I cant direct message you either.

As this post is now over a year old, has there been a fix to this issue? I have three of these phones in the family all had original batteries and one has been replaced with another battery yet the grey battery continues to persist. As well as when it does come on the battery drains at a much higher rate than that of the already poor life. What is the fix? our local store has no idea and it seams no one else has an idea......
Where is the link to message you? I am having the same problem with the battery.
I too am having this problem, have gone to my local store 3 times and they cant fix it. No one seems to know what the problem is.
I am having the same problem. My phone has also been shutting off randomly and can't catch a charge at times.
Good morning.
I apologize. Please follow me and then send me a Direct Message. (If you hover over my name, you should be able to Follow me and send Message.)

I am having the same problem with my Incredible 2. The phone is less than 1 year old. It has the original battery and the battery with exclamation icon comes and goes sporadically.
Is a new battery, the solution to this problem?
How do I get a new battery?
Thanks
I'm having the same issue, and it started yesterday. I have had this phone less than 6 months, and have had no issues with it other than this. With so many people having this problem, is there possibly a battery or phone defect to blame?
Same issue with Battery icon, though my phone does charge and stays on. HTC Incredible 2.
I had this problem a while back, and I may have a solution. My phone would show the grayed out icon with the ! over it and one day it refused to turn on after a night of charging. I replaced the battery, and it has worked since. I think the problem is either the power source is giving too strong of a current or the battery itself cannot communicate with the phone. It's a shame nobody working for Verizon could figure this out.
So, I guess there is no answer to this. I'm haveing the problem also. I plug in, wait a few minutes and the icon goes green. It's happeneing more frequently now, however. Replace battery? Somebody ought to know what this means since there is android code that changes the icon grey when something in the phone occurs.
I'm having the same issue now--just started last month. This is my second version of this phone in one year. First time it stopped charging, and now I get the battery icon issue. Any updates on what this is?? The reps at the VZW store had no idea.
she must not be with VZW anymore--i couldnt DM either
I'm having the same issue. It doesn't do it very often and when does on it doesn't seem to effect performance. Not sure what this is all about. Let everyone know what this is all about VZW???!!!
I have been havin gsome problems with my Incredible 2 latetly, Within the last week it has been hanging up on me when i'm trying to talk on the phone, and it has been freezing a lot lately, I've only had it for a little over a year, It will allow text messages go through and i can use my icons/app. What should I do?
Thanks Jess

I've been having the grey icon battery issue for awhile now. The Verizon Store here by me had me do a Factory Reset almost two weeks ago. My phone is doing it all over again today almost consistently. I'm now also having issues with my wireless connection and some apps. I'm not sure if it's my battery, phone or both. AND, of course I am out of warranty. It sounds like changing the battery may or may not help. Verizon, can you help? I'd upgrade my phone if I could.
I am having the same battery issues with the grey battery icon with the exclamation point, as well as the touch screen will not respond.
Has there been an update released for this issue? I think I've only had this phone for 9 months, kind of annoying paying so much money for something to have constant problems/issues with it.
Hi! I HIGHLY recommend you go into your local Verizon Wireless Authorized Dealer and let them know your issues. Your phone is still under warranty if you have had it less than a year. The phone is no longer made/carried, so they may swap you into a new phone.
I went into a Verizon store two weeks ago and they had me do a Factory Reset. That didn't solve the problem. I went into another Verizon store (closer to where I was Christmas shopping) and explained the situation. The woman there told me to call Customer Care and that they could help me. They sure did! My IPhone 4 will arrive tomorrow at NO cost to me for the phone and NO changes to my plan! I did have to do the "upgrade" and extend my contract because I've had my phone since August of 2011. The $30 fee for upgrading was a worthwhile cost knowing I'll have a phone that works in just one more day!
Hi beccamorton!I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Lets take a look at this! Are you using the original/manufacturer approved battery? Have you tried replacing the battery ever? Also, check the battery for an swelling, rust, or corrosion to ensure its not damaged. Keep me posted! AdamE_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
I'm having this issue too. It started about a week ago; the battery icon switches back and forth between normal and the gray/exclamation and the charge light alternates green/orange, and doesn't seem to charge very well. I've had this phone less than a year but it was the 2nd replacement for my original due to hardware issues. There is no visible problem with the battery but should I replace it anyway?
Thanks.
Same problem, my phone is a year and a half old. Battery still gives me a good day's usage but I bought an aftermarket battery anyway. Same thing. I'd bet it is a s/w issue and not a bad battery.
I'm having the same problem with the exclamation battery icon. Now more frequently and draining my battery. I have the original OEM and am two months away from my upgrade. Can you help me out Verizon?
Has anyone had any success with trying a new battery?
It isn't the battery; it's the phone. I used the replacement plan to get a
new phone (still using the old battery) and it works fine now.
My Incredible 2 is a year and a half old and I was getting the greyed out with exclamation point battery icon which was preventing charging and generally causing havoc with my phone.
This new battery, an Anker 1600ma battery that I bought on Amazon, solved the icon problem and actually extended the operational time of my phone.
With the old battery I would charge it every night with the level at "Yellow" at best and many times I would run out. Now when I plug it in it's still green and has lasted through the next morning at times....something my OEM battery never did.
Here is a screen shot of my wifes phone. We took it back to Verizon, he took the battery out, replaced it and it is still there. Now her phone is saying "phone storage low" with the icon on top right. We've wiped out apps and she can't access her photos, etc...
We have been grandfathered in on our data plan so we don't want to get a new contract - even though we can upgrade in Feb. What can we do?
Most of the time the space error is becuase she synced her facebook contacts with the phone which then downloads all profile photos, takes up all the space, have her unsync her facebook, that icon is related to faulty batt if i remember correctly, remember if you want to keep unlimited data you can bring your own equip or buy at full retail price to keep it.
Thanks! I just checked her phone and her contacts aren't synced with Facebook. In fact, when we go to Facebook, under her settings she has it set to "Don't Sync". So, could it be something else?
Oh that silly greyed out battery icon with the exclamation point. Sooooo, as near as I can tell from your posts, there is really no solution and/or what fixes it for some, doesn't work for others? It seems to vary. Figures, because mine is out of warranty :smileysad:
