Incredible messing up after update

Last week I got a system update for my HTC Incredible. I installe the update just fine, but then later that night I got another update notification, I clicked the "update" icon but it said my phone did not have enough space to install the update. I deleted some stuff, but the update notification box was gone, and I could not install this, and when I go to System Updates it says my system is up to date.

It says it is android version 2.3.4

Ever since the update my phone has been screwing up! It has been restarting randomly, and my texting has been horrible. Sometimes when I send a message (handcent sms) the icon says the message was sent, but the messages wont ever be recieved by the other party! And several times a day I click on my handcent icon and the background image for handcent will come up, but thats it, I can get back to the homescreen but it takes many tries before my messaging actually comes up, and sometimes I have to restart my phone before I can get the messages to show up! Several times a day my messaging will crash and I have to force close it too. This has been really annoying lately, could I have missed a system update or is it just my phone?

My wife & I both have Droid II phones. After the recent software update, our phones turn themselves back on as many from 1 up to 3 times after shutting them down. We have contacted tech support and to my amazement have not helped us or indentified the problem. So much for getting HELP. Real pain when you're in an important meeting and the phones need to go off and you can't count on it. In this situation, I have had to remove the battery.

@crablegs, can you go to menu->settings->about phone->Software Information, and confirm that the Software number shows 4.08.605.2. If it is 4.06.x.x then you are still one update behind. The 4.08 version is the most latest and has fixed a lot of issues that 4.06 had brought about.

If you are still on 4.06, then you can do some things to force the 4.08 update on your phone. If this is the case, let me know, I will point you to the steps which are already posted in this forum by many people.

As for the text messages not going through, this is a know issue and the link below has the solution. You will need to download and install a patch from htc's website. The link below takes to you the post which has a link to that patch.

When a phone is acting up as you say your's is the best thing to do is a Fr as will take the phone back to New an clear the files that are fighting with the new softwear sometimes doing Factory Resets are hard to Swollow because of fear of loosing your info but if you back it Up.

You'll be ok i've done this before an since your Contacts are or should be in your Google acc. once the Fr is finished an you log back into your acc. your contacts will pop back on it.

An for you Apps if you've bought your apps they'll come back when you log back into your Acc. the unpaid you will have to write down an then re-find them in the Market. So give this a try an see if helps any. Let us know the resolts B33
