I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue, and if they have been able to get it sucessfully resolved in some way. I have been through 12 devices (8 Droid 2/D2 Global/R2D2, and 4 Droid X's) since April 2011. Problems with the phones have ranged from dead cameras, to dysfuntional screens, and most recently a blown-out sounding earpiece. In my most recent call, I had asked if I could someout get away from Motorola devices and get a one from a different manufacturer, hoping I would have better luck there since I can't seem to get a good refurb from Motorola. All my service rep (Doug from Tier 2) told me was that they could send me another Droid X, or I could buy a new phone at full retail. I said to him again that I was looking to get away from Motorola and why, but he just repeated himself (felt like he was reading from a script. My Tier 1 rep was better!), saying that would be 'over stepping their bounds' and that they had done that multiple times in the past on my account. The only time I've had a different model of phone sent to me was when they ran out of Droid 2's, and sent me a few Droid 2 Globals and an R2D2, and then when I switched to the Droid X.
Any help/tips that anyone could offer would be fantastic. I've been told contacting the BBB could be helpful, which I might do if I don't get this fixed by the end of the week.
Some additional info that might be helpful: The plan/billing/numbers are all based in the Portland, OR area. My original device, however, was purchased in Flagstaff, AZ.
