Text Messaging

I would like to know how to discontinue getting text messages I don't use text I have my phone to have when I'm alone for emergencies or when I'm out and there is no public phone service available. I would rather just have voice mail to use. Can this be done on my phone I don't have any use for texting. Thank You Karen

Yes, call customer service (*611 from your phone, or 800-922-0204 from any phone) and ask them to block all text messages. The block is free, and you will not be able to send or receive any text messages.

 

The only ones that *may* slip through are free notification texts from Verizon, but I think you have the option to turn those off as well; you can ask the customer service rep while you are asking for the block.
