I have been visiting all kinds of forums reading up about the Samsung Charge and I have seen a lot of different opinions but one thing I have noticed is the amount of frustration over this device. I am severely unhappy with this phone, not because I dont like the basic functions of the phone, because I do love the Samsung interface, but because there are just so many random issues with the phone its staggering.
I got this phone at the end of the Summer after waiting an extra year after my initial upgrade date because I wanted to get a phone I could expect a lot of mileage out of. It was a toss up between this phone and the Thunderbolt (initially I wanted the Bionic but I got sick and tired of Motorola pushing back the release date). My first Android device was the original Moto Droid and I loved it. Yes it had some minor problems but for an older phone even up until the day I got rid of it I was very satisfied and now I wish I had stuck with Motorola. Sad thing is that in our household we have this phone and my partner has the HTC Thunderbolt which even with the complaints I have seen about it, its still a billion times better than this phone.
RIght now my biggest frustration is delay and lag along with the phone resetting during a game or app. I can sit side by side with the Thunderbolt and my phone running the same game and I see a ton of lag on my phone compared to the HTC phone. I make sure all of my behind the scene apps are shut down and I still get major lag, then a freeze then a phone reset. I had to actually uninstall games because they wouldnt run on my device, but low and behold they run fine on the HTC phone.
I dont really want to root my phone, I just want the phone to work the way its supposed to. I feel like I have been sold a lemon, and if this were a car or a home Verizon would be in trouble but since its a phone we are just expected to deal with it. I have to say I feel the cellphone business is very shady and lucrative, its one of the few things where customer satisfcation is totally overlooked. You get a phone that doesnt work properly and guess what youre stuck with it, if this happened with any other business, Sears, Bestbuy etc they would do whatever they could to fix your problem, with Verizon, nope too bad.
I have read that the Gingerbread update fixes a lot of the major flaws in the phone yet they wont release it, I am very close to leaving Verizon altogether over this issue. Maybe thats what I should say when I call them, not sure it will matter.
So, anyone else out there experiencing this? I mean when Angry Birds wont even run on THIS phone and causes it to restart due to major lag something is seriously WRONG.
