Receiving Multiples of the same text message

In the past couple of weeks my Droid X has been receiving the same message from the same person several times over the course of 1 to 2 minutes. Occasionally even longer. I receive the same message generally 2 or 3 times, at most 6. It doesn't always happen, but about 70% of the time I get a text. Anyone know a fix? Restarting the phone does not help. Its the built in SMS not Google talk, etc.

Hi TheFatmaster,

I understand your discontent; it must be annoying to get duplicate messages. Try doing the following on your phone, Menu>Settings>Applications>Running>Text Messaging>Clear Data>Force Stop then power phone OFF and ON. This will reset your text messaging app settings and may resolve this issue.

Please keep in mind that this will delete your current messages and you will not be able to retrieve. You can save a permanent copy of your important messages by emailing those important messages to your email account.
