xoom back button quirky?

Is it me or does anyone else find the back button on the xoom to be a little quirky?

I'm coming from a Toshiba thrive tablet and never tripped over the back button nearly as much as on the xoom. I have to press it two or more times more often than not. I'm wondering if it's just a Motorola touchscreen thing because the razr keyboard is also a little quirky near the edge of the screen.
