removing a calendar icon

  I placed a calendar on the screen when I dragged off from the quick button box. I can't find where or how to remove it from the screen

That's very frustrating. I hate when I have shortcuts that I can't get rid of. I will be glad to help. 

Go to Menu> Settings> Display Setting> Shortcut Bin: On. Now when you drag the icon on the main screen over the bin expand arrow, it should become a trash can so you can dump it. Once you have removed the icons you can turn the shortcut bin off again. It'll still come up if you tap the home screen once. Here's a User guide to the LG Cosmos Touch.
