Battery

Ok so thouse of you that ran out and got the Bionic, how is the battery?? Acording to many early reviews befor the launch it is suposed to be greatly improved from the T-Bolt, Charge, and LG 4G phones. So whats the word, is it better only slightly improved or just as bad?? Im seriosly considering grabing this phone so I woudl love to know befor I do so

@DroidM there are many factors to consider when determining the battery Consumption on Bionic , How you set your display , utilities running on it , what you set it on when your at home like using Wi-Fi instead of the Network wich the radio in Bionic would not run as hard because it's got a constant signal from Wi-Fi an not having to always reconnect to the Tower. An what you set it on if you live in a CDMA 3G only area. An battery condition is a must if you buy one the first thing i do with it above all Charge the battery don't pull the charger right away let it stay on the charger a few more hours after its says its done then disconnect it. Run the phone all the way down to were your warning indicator wants you to hook it up an do the same thing as i pointed out an Do NOT I Repeat DO NOT charge that phone from your Computer
use the what came with it an it only. I never charge my Phones from a Computer Never!!!! .

An my last suggestion is Enjoy the phone as i have enjoyed my Two. Droid X an my D inc wich to me is new again Via

There is no reason why to never charge the phone from the computer. If you are using your phone to play video intensive games, or the phone has shut off due to the lack of power, then you need to be on AC power, but if you are using the phone lightly, then the computer charge is just fine.

Also the batteries are Li-on which do NOT have a charge memory like the older Ni-Cads used to. So there is no need to run the charge all the way down before charging. I do not wait until it is close to no charge before putting a charge back to it. I have my phone on my laptop when I am at home most of the time. My phone goes from my home to my car charger, to my ac charger at work. It is not on the charger when I am in meetings at work, or if I am driving my wifes van for running errands. I still get a few hours out of the batttery when I am out and about with playinjg games, checking email etc.

The other suggestions are good though......

I think it's too early to tell. The phone was only released yesterday and you need to give us several charge/discharge cycles to really determine about battery life. I can tell you it charges faster than my Sammy Charge.

So far, it's actually been a little better than the DX2 I retired today. But since 9:00am on the 8th, it's been through only 2 charge cycles and one of those was a 24-hour stretch of trying to activate the phone and all of the monkeying that went along with it. So yes, it might be a few more days before we really know. But I think it's gonna be decent, if not impressive.

And I don't know if I'm really working out the battery, we don't have 4G here yet.

After the first day of using the Bionic from a full battery charge it exhusted about 9 hours after it was unpluged from the charger.

The usage was on a 4G network and light internet usage was accomplished (about 2 hrs total time)

I've got 10h, 15 mins so far today on the 4G network, a couple of hours of internet browsing, 3 phone calls (around 20 mins total), and using the music player for 4 hours with BT activated. The battery gauge show 30% left, but I've only has 1 charge cycle on this phone so that might improve a bit in the near future.

Wow that's really good I got 6 out of the thunderbolt but interested in the bionic. Can u do data and phone calls on 3g or 4g?

I coudl be wrong but I beleve all of the 3G/4G LTE phones can do this.

Right now I'm down to 5% and have gotten 7hr 20min on my battery today, only using it for texting (~20 texts) and a 14 minute phone call. I get no 4G signal, even though I live in a 4G area where other people's phones are getting full signal. Wifi and GPS have been off all day. I'm ot using any antivirus or task killers, nor have I installed many apps on the phone since I got it. Cell standby is using up 46% of my battery, phone idle is using up 39%. This is pretty sad if you ask me, considering how this is supposed to have such a huge battery.

I can confirm that you can make calls with simultaneous data access on LTE. The network here is just really, really fast!. I can't believe that I'm seeing 26-28mbs down!

Yesterday I started using my phone for app downloading, angry birds, and iheart radio streaming with 4G, wifi searching, GPS, etc. all on and did text and call a few times. The radio streaming lasted for about six hours and the other things during the same time period and after I was done the battery was still at sixty percent. I charged it once only since picking it up Friday at noon. Compared to the OG Droid (2 1/2 hours of radio streaming without wifi, gps, etc. on), this phone is a great improvement.

I decided to upgrade my standard battery to the extended one after experiencing significant difficulty in removing the rear cover. It certainly won't come off accidentally, but it is really difficult to get loose unless you you a thin credit card to help. The battery compartment should also have some sort of aid to remove it as well (also extremely tight). I was getting 10 hours + on the standard battery so I'm expecting around 15 hours on the extended one. It fits quite nicely in the shell/holster case that I purchased with the phone.

I charged up the extended battery. So far, the battery gauge today is indicating 80% with system start of 6 hours, 10 min. At that rate, the battery will last at least 20+ hours before it gets to 20% left. Usage today is about 1 hour of internet, 30 minutes e-mail, 2 phone calls, 1 download.

I have had my Bionic for two days now. I ordered the extended battery. I charged the battery before activating the phone and then proceeded to use it quite heavily over the next 10 hours. I downloaded about 200 MB of apps, sent and read multiple emails, about 100 text messages and spent way too much time trying to get favorite contacts to display more than two people. Finally gave up after two hours. I also spent time browsing the web and taking pictures with the camera. This morning, 19 hours after fully charging the battery, the widget showed the charge at 40%. I live in an area with no 4G LTE service. Almost all the downloading was done via 3G. I did set up the WIFI connection, but didn't really use it. My work office is in a 4G LTE area and you can definitely tell a difference in download speed.

My daughter has the Bionic as well and is seeing similar results with the extended battery. Neither of us has done anything special in the settings to save battery other than disabling WIFI when it isn't in use.

I hope this helps give you a good idea of what to expect with the phone.

The phone itself is AWESOME !!!!
