Is it time to suggest a re-boot of the phone or a battery pull?....
I swear, I'm feeling some serious deja vu on the way...
Try that and see what happens..

Hello community members! Thanks for the assist, Geri! Rayzer, I'm here to help with your data connection concerns. If you have not yet gotten your Bionic to connect to the internet, I need to find out if this is due to a problem with your phone or with where you are. Can you share your current location, and whether or not the connection changes if you move to a different place please? Thanks!
Thanks for the response, rayzer! Though I am concerned about your being in Extended Service area, it's sounding more and more like a device issue. I recommend replacing the device just to be sure. I can help you with that or you have the option of going through Customer Care or the original point of sale. If you would like me handle it, you can send me a personal message through this forum. Include your name and phone number. If you want to go through Customer Care, you can dial 800-922-0204 from 6 am to 11 pm daily!
I can't say what's causing the issue, but I will say that I have experienced this as well. I can sympathize and say that I find it a bit of an inconvenience to have to manually select my network mode, but when I do, it works near flawlessly. Hopefully the folks at Motorola, VZW and Google will get things sorted out and come out with a permanent fix. Until then, unless you are in a solid 4G area, you should try these steps:
Turn off Wi-Fi. Then...do this:
Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > CDMA Only
When you get home, you can always turn Wi-Fi back on.
If you go into a 4G area, you can always set the network mode back to CDMA/LTE.
