The Bionic

The mobile phone that a lot of Droid users was waiting for is finally here. Now...and from what I read of the specs, it appears to be a great cell phone...I wonder how long it will be before we see the same complaints about the Bionic that we've been reading about with the Droid X?

I went into a Verizon store and checked it out and set mine next to it and checked the displays side by side and for me I prefer my x's display. I also prefer my physical keys on the bottom of the phone versus the bionics touch enabled ones. I also Didn't care for the power button being the only way to wake the devices display. Other than that it sure is fast. Unfortunately for the bionic I'm not going to lose my quality display over a few blinks of an eye of speed. Keeping my x until a phone is released that is a complete upgrade to what I have now. Just my. 02 cents

Eager to learn if the 4G drains the battery like it does on my friend's TB. If it does, I guess a 100 ft. long extension cord would be required.

Also, curious if "Blur-lite" interacts with apps better.

Could care less about the front facing camera and not having one on my X is doing others a favor (not seeing this mug in Skype).

I am actually happy with my Droid X and my TB... They both are moving right along without any real bugs.. Got to admit that the TB is winning the popularity for me and the front facing camera is nice to have.

What I am wondering if the Bionic support data and voice at same time on 4g and 3g like my TB does?

I asked about the simultaneous voice & data over 4G on the Bionic and I was told yes it does.

I think the Bionic's display looks natural than the DX2's display. Doesn't have that "blue feel" that I noticed with the X2.

Haven't had this one long enough to decide on battery life. I'll naturally know more in a few days. And in October, i'll be in a 4G area for 4 days, I'll certainly learn more about battery life then.

I got the Bionic to satisfy a new and different phone craving. Call me crazy, no doubt. But with the rumored Samsung and HTC phones on the way and 2 lines eligible for upgrades in late October, I have opportunities... :smileyhappy:

Have you tried it on 3G also, Im not in a 4G area yet and I am wondering if any other devices will have this function.

According to everything that I have read, CDMA technology cannot support voice and data at the same time. If your TB is doing it, then they must be doing some kind of switching between voice and data. Or maybe it has two CDMA radios in it, one for voice, one for data. Having two radios must be tough on the battery life though

LTE can support both voice and data at the same time due to the wide pipe that it has.

My Droid X cannot do both data and voice.

Thats what I thought until I bought the Thunderbolt and since my area does not have 4G, I was surprised when I used data and voice without any issues at all.

After reading a number of post on multiple forums it seems that so far the TB seems to be the only device that does both even on CDMA 3G network, I have used Data and Voice regularly so I can verify that the TB can do this flawlessly.

I didn't realize that you were in a 3G-only area, Wildman.

I'll try to make an opportunity to see if I can do voice and data simultaneously sometime today.

So, Wildman, being in a 3G-only area, how did your activation process go?

There are two cellular radios on the Tbolt. One does the voice and 1x CDMA portion and another radio does both the 3G EDVO and the LTE portion.

The other 4G phones in Verizon's lineup has the radios configured differently. One radio has the CDMA and EDVO job and another one for the LTE data.

There was a good review posted that explains the radios on the Tbolt better than I can.

Thank you very much for the article.... it answered a lot of questions on how the TB does their radio, and it makes a lot of sense to me.....

Thats why the battery life stinks in it to many Darn Radios. I guess with time it will get better as things always do an as the Newer Os builds come out that will help too.

Now here's some good figures to pass on: my year old X on its new battery has went 2d 22h 14s since pulling it off the charger. i'd say thats not bad at all. B33

2.22.14 really doesn't say much with no info of how you use the phone.
