Anyone know what kind of charges you incur for changing the number on your phone?
I actually just got my number changed on my billing cycle. The start of my next billing cycle was on the 5th. I changed my number on the 4th to avoid the proration charges. So my recommendation is to do it the day before your new minutes start.
I did it online, so it didn't cost me anything. But I have learned that if you do it over the phone with a rep they do charge 15.00.

To add to what tremontij already advised, you may change your mobile number at any time. There is a $15.00 change fee which is automatically billed to your account at the time of the number change, if you call into customer service or visit a store. This fee would not apply if you process the change online on My Verizon www.VerizonWireless.com through our IVR (automated voice response system *611) or through My Verizon Express.
If the number change is processed and completed during the bill cycle, your plan minute allowance will be prorated.
