My phone keeps lighting up both the keypad and the touch screen. It will do this when it's just sitting on a table with no one touching it. I feel this has to be shorting the battery life. how do you get it to stop?

Sorry for any inconveniences this backlight issue with your LG Cosmos Touch may be causing! I could imagine how frustrating that would be.
If you are still experiencing issues with the backlight coming on intermittently without your pressing any buttons on the phone, I would like to have you try a reset of the devices settings. This will not erase any of your phone's data, but just restore your settings to the phones defaults, such as ringtones, wallpapers & etc.. Instructions for "Reset Default":
Reset DefaultFrom the main screen, press Menu. Touch SettingsTouch Phone SettingsTouch SecurityEnter Lock Code ???? displays, enter the 4 digit lock code (default: last 4 digits of phone number).Touch Reset DefaultReset Default - Preference Settings will be set to factory defaults. Your user data will not be erased. Press <OK> to continue displays, touch OK.
Scroll to Revert, touch OK
