Are you logging my key strokes and looking at my private info? Some much for HTTPS encryption.
I would like the courtesy of an answer please.

This is very disturbing.
coummity forums, "verizon" won't answer you
this really shouldnt be newsto you, everything is being kept everywhere. google has your info, facebook has your info
apple is tracking you
Really what harm has ever been done to you that you think was caused by carrier iq
This has been around for a while and hasn't affected any of us..yet
Yeah, I know. I really don't mind them collecting network and handset data.
What really fries me is that the Carrier IQ rootkit was written to grab ALL keystrokes. This includes HTTPS protocol that is grabbed and logged before encryption. Now as I understand it, that may be the only way to do this at the rookit level, but that is a true breach of privacy.
VZW claims they don't utilize this softwware, but I'l but there is something similar they use.
Like I said, I could care less about acquisition of useful data, but if you're going to snoop my secured traffic and subvert recognized universal internet protocols, please have the courtesy to tell me in advance. I just might want to change my habits and maybe my handset.
Verizon already has answered this -- They say that their devices don't have Carrier IQ.
also restated by DansDroid
Or course...people can/will say, "They're lying!" Could be...
...But AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have admitted that their devices do have Carrier IQ, and Apple says that their devices do except those running iOS5, so seems like it would be safe for VZW to admit it if true. If VZW was lying they'd look much worse if Carrier IQ was then detected on their devices. And people already have developed tools to detect it.
If/If-not Carrier IQ is discovered on VZW devices then we'll know who is rational and who is paranoid.
You can read a long discussion on this subject on the Motorola Bionic board:
Carrier IQ

CNet article RE: Carrier IQ. Sorry guys, but if it logs keystrokes EVEN TO A TEMP BUFFER, it's a keylogger. Semantics.
We know VZW is collecting data somehow, even if they disavow Carrier IQ.
That's O.K. by me if it HELPS GET THIS CLUSTER OF A HANDSET FIXED.

How do we know that?
I mean, "know" is an absolute -- requiring documentation, not a guess...or paranoid delusion. If you have a link to actual documented evidence of this, please share.
Just wondering...
From what I've heard, it's not just Onstar....
The "black boxes" record a bit of info that the insurance companies and/or law enforcement can use when determining fault and responsibility in auto accidents. And this has been going on for years. I don't think it's quite as simple as I make it sound here, but it has been going on.
I think this is google-able (gee, what a word...)

There are a lot of Bionic onwers, including me, who don't feel "rewarded" right now!
