Samsung Intensity II problems

My phone must be possessed.  I have two problems 1) It has decided to duplicate names/numbers (not all only a few).  2)doesn't show id of some contacts when receiving texts/calls. Number is provided but not name.  I don't recognize ppl by number, I've gotten accustomed to my previous phone showing the person's name when receiving text/calls.  can anyone help me fix this?
