France roaming help

I am currently in France, did not *228 before coming here. I have a droid global, but have no signal here. Any hope,

Did you get the Vodafone SIM activated before you left?   You can try calling global services (from another phone of course!), call collect +1 908 559 4899, or, if you have the calling card that came with the phone, toll-free from France, 0-800-99-0019, followed by the Verizon Wireless calling card number + PIN

Did you sign up for the international data plan?  If not, be careful if and when your phone works!  If you are in France for any length of time, it might be better to use a local SIM.  You will need your phone to be unlocked, if it isn't Global Services should be able to unlock it.
