Phone sending out ghost text messages

Today 2 of my friends received ghost text messages with no information in them. The only reason i caught this was because I asked them had they received a message from me. Both said yes, and it was blank. This occured once before about a month ago, but I never thought to ask if they had received a message. I checked my account this morning and it says I received 2 picture/video messages this morning (WHICH I HAVE NOT) and one of the lines indicates that someone else sent a message and a received the same message on my phone line. This is beyond weird.

I have spoken to a few others and they said they have had similar issues. I have an LG ALLY, I've had it for almost 2 yrs and this is the first time I've ever had any problems with "phantom" text messages and random charges on my account.

PLEASE ADVISE. Any help would be appreciated. I've already restarted my phone.

Well I can't explain about receiving a text message in which you didn't actually receive, unless someone else had your phone and deleted the message before returning it.

As to sending a message, that can be done the same way people pocket dial. Edit: Which would also explain why the message could have been blank.

It couldn't have been a pocket dial situation because the phone is kept on a counter, not in a pocket or purse. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but the issue with the text message detail saying a message was charged on my account that I never sent is simply odd.

I'll go by a Verizon wireless store today and maybe they can explain.

This doesn't address the fact that someone may have sent it without your knowledge, or do you also have your phone in sight of you 24/7?

You may also want to keep in mind you do have an Android phone. With this phone, you have the ability to download and install apps to your phone. To be able to use these apps, you have to accept the terms and conditions of each and every app which you install and use. Some apps state in the terms and conditions that it may send/receive text messages. Do you read and remember all of the terms and conditions for each and every one of the apps you have installed on your device?

No ONE has access to my phone except me, unless they sent it from online (which to my understanding you can't do without logging into someone's account.

And yes, it actually is in my sights 24/7.

It could have been an issue with an app that was installed and it sent out a random text message. When i speak to the Verizon rep onsite at the store, I'll speak with them about that.

Javaunae, thank you for sharing your issue and I agree this sounds like a strange occurrence. I do not show this being a know issue for the Ally. One thing I would suggest in case your phone is trying to re-send messages that are in your threads, is to clear out some of your messages in your inbox. It could also be a memory issue that stopped you from receiving the picture messages. Have you received any low storage errors in the Notification Panel on your phone. Also, clear your Messaging cache by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Messaging>Clear data/cache.
