All my contacts got doubled - it gets worse -

Hello all,

 

all my contacts got doubled, I tried to delete the doppelgänger contact (it was always the 2nd contact & the notes in that contact were quadrupled).  The doubled contact came right back the next time I came back to contacts.  To make matters worse I'd like to delete everything & start over but I just checked the back-up assistant & only the newest contact are there. What the H--?

besides really starting all over again & rebooting the phone any suggestions?

I went back to the Radio Shack I bought the phone and Brook - the tech guru explained the answer.  After deleting the doubled file(s) you go to settings, accounts,  the gmail account you are syncing to , then menu again to bring up "sync now". (You must be in a location to allow the sync to work) the sync now - does the trick once the updated list is synced the double is gone.

I had only deleted and not synced so the file came back.  Hope this helps others. Bottom line sync after updating list.
