Droid incredible 2 won't boot up fully

Question

My phone is stuck in a limbo.  It goes from the word Droid to the white HTC screen then to a blank screen, over and over.  My husband orignially found it with the droid eye on the screen and when be couldn't get it to start up beyond that, we took the battery out, cleaned the contacts, let it charge, and then turned it back on. It is now stuck in that loop.

Help!

My son took the SIM card out and reset if for me.  Lost all of my downloaded apps but first and foremost I need my phone for work.  Will not be downloading a lot of games for my child. I think it was my attempt to get HeyZap off of my phone that did this in the first place.
