xv6900 screen unresponsive

My xv6900 screen is acting up. I repeatedly have to realign it. Resetting doesn't help. In fact, doing so causes it to lock, and then I can't open it because the screen will not accept input from the stylus. After multiple tries, turning it on and off, I can sometimes get it started again. Any ideas? Is the phone just shot?

I have checked my references and I am not showing that this is a known issue with the xv6900. This could be due to the age of the phone, or the amount of use.

I would suggest trying a soft reset of the device.

-Remove the battery while the phone is powered on

-Wait 60 seconds

-Re-attach battery and power on

-Monitor the device

I began having the very same problems last week and have tried the same tricks to get it to respond including cleaning and lifting along the screen edge. Two days ago the screen was so bad I was touching with the stylus to check missed calls and it entered into lock and now I can't do anything with the screen because I can't unlock it. It responds by touching because I can bring it out of the half lit screen to full light before it goes dark, but I can't get any where near the unlock. It doesn't do any good to pull the battery out over night or do any resets because it still comes back in the locked setting and unresponsive to stylus.

If you do a search on the internet you will find that this is a common problem. Yes I am eligible for a new phone because I have had this xv6900 for 2.5 years, but I don't want a new phone. I actually believe the phone should last longer than 3 years!

Before we purchase a new phone it would be nice to know the life expectancy of the phone so Verizon doesn't force us to purchase a new phone every two years.

"Life expectancy" of a phone can vary greatly, even for the same phone model. Two people use the same phone entirely differently ... text a little? text a lot? Carry it in a purse? A pocket? How often does it get dropped? Protective cases? Screen protectors?

You can always get phones from a source other than a Verizon store - buy from a friend, eBay, as long as it's branded Verizon....

That all being said, I like having the option to get a discount on a brand new phone every couple years or so . . . but that's just me.
