No 3G, No 4G--Incredibly Frustrated!

At some point this morning, I lost my 4G signal and haven't been able to get 3g or 4g since. I've tried rebooting, reprogramming via *228, activating and deactivating data packet. I've tried going in and out of airplane mode and switching between LTE and CDMA. There's been a couple times where, upon rebooting, the 3G logo showed in my status bar but almost immediately disappeared and the 3G signal didn't actually work anyway. I know it isn't a tower issue because my girlfriend's iPhone is having no such issues plus it began when I was at work..almost 45 miles from my home where I connect through different towers.

I've been trying to find a solution to this problem but I've seemingly tried everything. I'm hoping it isn't my antenna going but at this point I don't know what else it could be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. My 3G connection will turn on, then immediately turn off.

I had this issue while trying to activate my Rezound last night, try going on to https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/secure/services/activatePhone.action and reactivate from here.

I have a 4G phone, the Samsung Stratosphere, and I'm not even getting 3G. It will randomly turn on for a split second, and I will get like an email or a facebook notification, and when I try to go to it it says no internet connection. I can't even connect to my WiFi. This is really annoying.

The same thing is happening to my phone. Two days after I updated, the 4g dropped and I don't have an internet connection unless I turn on my wifi.

The exact same thing happened to me three days after updating. If I turn the phone off and then on again I get a few seconds of 4G or 3G then it disconnects. I ran through a lot of possible solutions with VZW customer service which did not work. They told me to go into a local VZW store and get a new SIM card and see if that works. I will do that later today. I will post the results later today.

no data for me either - and I did NOT get the update (updated manually last week with a custom ROM)

Yes, this problem started for me in Rochester, NY this morning. Either 4G or 3G, the icon only pops up for a few seconds and then disappears, with no wireless data service at all. Tried rebooting -- same thing. Wi-Fi is the only wireless service working consistently.

I wonder if this is a broader network problem.

I was warned at least three times by different VZW reps last summer to never do *228 on the Charge because it screws up the 4G SIM card. I'm not sure exactly why, but in-store and phone reps reminded me repeatedly, without prompting.

I have been experiencing the same thing since yesterday afternoon. I called Verizon last night and they didn't know of any problems with the network. I had 3G and 4G for a while this morning, but it's gone again now.

My coworker with an Incredible also only had 1X all afternoon yesterday.

So where are we with this? I am having the same issue and seems right now the only thing working is texting, which is weird. I cannot go to the 'net, get any emails- gmail or work email, or make calls. I need this fixed. This phone has been extremely frustrating for the past couple months. Need a solution with it.

This is a "what if" regarding your phones because I don't know how to fix your problems.

If your update is not working it may have been a BAD install. Now the What If...What if you tried to re-install Gingerbread 2.3.6 again by doing a manual install yourself? I wonder, but do not know, if this is even possible!

Maybe others in this forum might give their opinion of this idea.

Where is it that everyone with these issues lives? Could be a network issue around the general area where you guys live. I've had the update since saturday on my charge and on my wife's charge and they both have been amazing, both dater than before, no data drops at all, no reboots, no freezing....just smooth and working wonderfully.

It's not just Charges. Google searches show people with RAZRs are also experiencing issues.

I am having the same issue! The first time I called Verizon they tried to troubleshoot me to death before acknowledging that there is an outage. I called this morning at 8a.m. and they stated that they are hoping to have service back up in a few hours...but i doubt that!

Ever since the Gingerbread update on my Droid Charge 2 days ago, I'm basically getting nothing. I'll get service for a second, then it'll turn off.

Just got off with Verizon. This issue is for "All 4G phones in the Northeast". Great. Told me to connect to wifi so my phone will work until they can get it fixed. Not what I was hoping for.

Looks like you called it, seems to be an issue in the NE.

Looks like someone pushed out a software upgrade to the towers that fubared the whole thing.... I hope ti's not bricked.... can ODIN be used to flash the tower rom?

This is not an isolated Charge issue. I now have a Motorola Droid and have begun having this issue since the middle of last month. Prior to that I had a Fascinate, with a host of problems, but I did not have issues with retaining my wi-fi connection in my home or a signal problem AT WORK. I had signal problems AT HOME. Now, I have signal problems everywhere. So, I'm guessing that VZW isdoing work on their network that's causing this widespread connectivity issue with various phone types across the board.

Not that I want to jinx anything, but I've had 4G back in NYC for 5 whole minutes now. Long enough to DL a bunch of Market APP updates.

From my readings I've seen the Thunderbolt having data drop issues, Droid Charge with data drop issues, and the Droid Bionic having data drop issues. Haven't read too much on the revolution or the razr but I'm almost certain they have had data drop issues as well. Seems to me that Big Red's gotta BIG MESS with these 4G LTE phones. I am too still expeirencing data drops even after the GB update and FR. They said this update would resolve that...well guess what? Again this phone will rest in **bleep** while I go back to my X2 that NEVER I repeat NEVER had any data dropping issues. Goodbye Droid Chrage...bout to get $275 for this {word filter avoidance}. Aint I lucky?

If you missed it- it's not the OS.. it's the network....

Verizon once said "It's the network" or something like that as a promotional slogan. I would pay more for Verizon because I had bars when all my sprint and att friends were barless...

Let's hope this is a bug in some software somewhere that a developer is shaking as he fixes rather than a sign of things to come..

It seems more important that we are able to continously posts unaddressed issues and unanswered questions than it is to come here to find "certified" resolutions for said issues/questions. well, alrighty then. :smileyvery-happy:

Can some one help me fix my intermittent connectivity issue. I consistently drop from 3G to 1X at home, work and all points in between. My wi-fi drops intermittemently at home all the time! Can SOMEONE help????

If not in this thread- it's been in others- not all people seem to be impacted by the outage- however it is happening on many other models.

I was able to access 4G for a a few hours today but I am back to no data at all. This is incredibly inconvenient and the CSR i spoke with on the phone was 100% useless. I don't see any reason to pay for a data plan if I'm not getting any data service. THis is clearly not an isolated incident, so what is VZW doing about it? Nothing? Awesome!

I still have 4G 2 hours in, but one of my coworkers also on a Charge has nothing. Weird.

We have now learned the network outage has to do with SIM cards, which of course means LTE/4G phones. Those with 3G phones are unaffected. Unfortunately, some 4G phones like the Charge are not able to step down to 3G, even when you turn 4G off in the settings. Anyone try pulling the SIM card out completely and seeing if at least 3G becomes stable?

Not sure about anyone else but removing my SIM from my droid charge doesn't allow me any kind of service at all. It just says no SIM card. Rest assured, I'll be asking for a refund from my bill beginning 11/6 and ending whenever they sort this out. I find it unbelievable that we LTE users aren't able to correctly step down to the old 3G towers or whatever.
