I ain't skeered...
On the other hand, that is kinda how I would up with this X2. Or at least the fear of an issue that was unfounded in the end....
And back on the first hand, the 2 DXs around me are still working fine after the update. My daughter's (my beloved first DX and the one that gave me the unfounded scare), I did restore, just for good measure. My girlfriend's hasn't been restored at all and it's still working fine.
I'm so sorry, ya'll......

The Gingerbread update is live! Now, I'm just wondering when it will hit my phone.....That;'s live on Verizon's website btw!
I see the update notice on the website. But my phone does not recognize the update when i search for it. Is it still rolling out to parts of the country or should i just contact Verizon?
Thanks
DroidLife doesn't have the official Gingerbread update from VZW. The one they have will void the warranty.
I don't think anyone has actually gotten the udpate from verizon even though the claim was that it was being released on the 28th.
Verizon needs to step up their game and get it released as there are a number of us waiting for this Download to fix some issues.

I just uploaded the update. It went very smooth with no problems! Just keep checking your phones-for those who still haven't received it.
The update is also available via settings/about phone/system updates.
Interesting that Verizon is allowing this update to continue to go out with all the reported issues with it. Let us know how it goes (I'm sure you will..).
lol ... good point ... well probably not - the DX2 seems to be the Master Fix for GB-everything ??
Got the update this morning.....market keeps locking up and my battery icon is still solid green after being unplugged for almost 4 hours....anyone else having issues? I never had any problems before the update.
Maybe a bit off topic, but I wonder if there shouldn't be a separate DX2 section? Seems like this Droid X section is starting to be more including the X2 issues ... just a thought. It's kinda hard to help those in need of it if the majority of us still have the DX.
Thanks Ann ...
My Gingerbread experiences so far....
Good: Screen, speed through the menu's, more intuitive to run, icon upgrades, camera seems to focus faster and take better pics, longer battery life.
Bad: Screen does not always register touch, behaves badly in the car dock, I can't add more than 2 favorite contacts in the car dock mode without the car dock force closing, it reboots randomly in the car dock as well ( did this before the update too), Car dock icon no longer shows up in the app menu.
'HOME' button works intermittantly. I've had to do a master reset the first time (Verizon's suggestion on the day I got the phone) and since then it's become non responsive several times and a re boot usually makes it work for a while.
In the night dock, it plays a few songs then makes an annoying mechanical noise for about 30 seconds then reboots on it's own. Last night, it made the annoying mechanical noise after one song then rebooted after 30 seconds. I resumed the music play after it rebooted and after 3 or 4 songs, it just stopped with no noise this time and rebooted again. It did reboot a couple of times before the update, but is doing so more now.
When in the night dock, if you leave the alarm clock screen, to check an email or something after you've gone to bed, you cannot return to it unless you take the phone out of the dock and place it back in, very annoying.
Some menu's are non responsive. Thats all I can think of for now. It's irritating, especially when I want to listen to music when I go to bed and the phone wigs out.......
I want to love the phone, hopefully Motorola and Verizon will get it sorted out.
Thanks for the link Joel. Can you post a link that also shows the issues with the update?
Thank you. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic (well maybe a little) but there are a lot of issues with the update as well as a lot of benefits. I'm really becoming a bit wary of Motorola and their updates of late. I wish I could buy a HTC phone with a big beautifully executed slideout keyboard with a 4.5" screen with Sense. But, I don't think that will ever happen.
Mine updated today and now it is not working at all. It keeps freezing and will not allow me to access anything, apps phone text nothing AHHH!!!
Did you try the CLEAR SYSTEM CACHE procedure? I would start there at least... and if that doesn't settle it down, a Factory Reset ... Else you'd need to isolate which possible APP is causing the problems ...

bmcdonald,
Sorry you are experiencing problems with your Motorola DROID X2 since updating the software! I am happy to assist!
Sounds as though something on the device memory did not either install or load properly after the update. So I will like to suggest performing a "Hard Reset" of the device to ensure the device can function as expected. Please ensure you know your Google/GMail credentials prior to performing the reset, to ensure your data syncing with Google returns to the device. Nothing on your SD Memory card will be erased. Just as a tip, if the preferred method doesn't work try the alternate hard reset method.
Please let us know how this works out for you!
And now the 2.3.4 updates are starting today. Finally, some GB fixes.
i try to update but it keeps telling me check for update is not available at this time. try again later. its been like that for a week now.
