Why do some text numbers show up as a phone number and others show up as a several zeroes followed by four numbers?

The zeros followed by the four numbers would be a result of instant messages that have been used on your phone.

Well people can IM directly to your phone if they have you on an their IM list. You can also use the IM app on your phone to sign in and instant message there.

Have read on hear that 000000645 numbers can be spam or IM messages. Not sure exactly what they are?? I sent a text message from my phone yesterday using text message. My phone indicates that they have not received the message. My online bill shows that the message was sent from 000000645. I am sure it was not IM message. Please any other info on this? I don't know whether to resend the message since it has not been received or to start all over again.

I am also having problems and don't understand what is going on. I have gotton 3 text messages this week from someone that I haven't texted nor talked with for over 2 years. The text come through my phone showing his real cell number. When checking online for my messages in the log, his number is not showing up for those text messages but instead shows up 0000006245. I don't use IM on the web nor on my phone. My next question would be is there a possibility that someone besides him is sending these texts using a different method making the 0000006245 show up on the register, but how is his number showing up on my phone with the text? If someone can help me figure this out, I would be so thankful!!!!

People can add your number to a SMS (text message) on there IM friends list and send it to your device directly. This will show up as a text message. This may be what is causing those numbers to come up.
