@vtext.com contact issue

I have a droid bionic. I used my google email to populate my contacts. Not uncommon, and something you must do with this phone. I have a contact that had a 1234567890@vtext address that was saved to my google contacts. I did not have a phone handy and had sent a text message to my Verizon friend. Well, the droid continues to use this address as much as I have tried to change the format back to the regular 10 digit format. Texts are received by my friend with bracketed "subjects" which are the first few words of the text. I have tried to edit the contact on the gmail side and the droid side. I have gone as far as removing the contact entirely and then re-entering it like a new contact. The vtext will not go away. I welcome any help at all. I wish deleting the contact really deleted the contact. Is that part of the issue? A read only problem? Thanks all.

Once you delete the contact, reboot the phone. It sounds like the contact is being saved in the cache, and when you re-enter it, it thinks it's the previous one. If you reboot, it may clear that info out, and then you can re-enter.

Have the contact send you a text message, and then save the contact from the message you received to ensure that it is entered correctly.
