LG Octane calendar alert sounds ?

Hi All,

 

So here is my question: I just traded an LG enV3 (which I only had for two weeks) for an LG Octane. As part of that process I (re)downloaded all the ring-tones I had previously onto the Octane.They appeared in the My Sounds folder.

 

Using various menus I was able to assign them to all the various alert sounds that I wanted. All is good so far.

 

So now I moved on to (re)entering a dozen or so calendar appointments I had on the previous phone. But when I get to the part of the set up for a calendar alert to select the sound for that, none of my downloaded sounds show up in the sound menu (which has the word Ringtones at the top).

 

How can I move sounds from My Sounds to My Ringtones ?

 

I spent over an hour on the phone with VW tech support - first level very helpful, but could not solve problem, went to second level, great guy, but nothing we tried worked, including re-downloading songs. He suggested trying LG support - which I did and the LG guy was useless, and when I asked to speak to someone else he routed me back to the beginning of the VW phone menu tree !

 

On my previous phone (samsung alias) downloaded ringtones were available for use as calendar alerts and on the enV3 at least some them were available but not all (never figured out why). So I thought a feature this common would have carried through to the Octane.

 

I know it is a relatively minor thing, but I use the calendar alot and like having my  own tones for different recurring events.

 

Does anyone have any ideas ? Or did they really make this impossible to do ?

Hi halfwatt,

 

I understand your discontent. While both (previous and current) devices are manufactured by the same company, every device is different and not always includes the same features.

 

You can try to access your sounds and ringtones folders and copy/transfer from one to another and this may resolve your concerns. You can do this via the USB Mass Storage mode on your phone. For detailed instructions see page 95 of your LG Octane User Guide.

 

Please keep in mind that not all devices include same features and even if you copy files from one folder to another as suggested above your phone may not do what you want it to do.
