Car Dock - No Auxiliary Speaker when using Phone

I purchased the car dock and am very happy. I use the auxiliary speaker wire to connect to my cars stereo. I hit speaker on the main menu, then exit to get apps. This works great with music or Sling Box. However, when I receive a call the phone reverts to speaker phone and not the auxiliary stereo. I have even tried placing calls from the main menu and it will not play over my cars speakers. Seems like this would be an expected hands free feature. Any information would be appreciated.

Dear willpm,

You may have tried this already but if not...

From any home screen (NOT the "main menu" screen), press the Menu button (left physical button) and then select Settings > Dock settings and click "Audio output mode" so that audio plays through the speakers when the phone is in the dock. I don't really know whether this will work for phone call audio as opposed to music audio, but worth a try.

Willpm, I don't have a car dock to test, but please try pressing the speakerphone icon while on a call to see if that switches from the phone's speakers to the car speakers.

Let me know if that works.

I plug it into the headset jack rather then the bottom jack which seems to low for audio. All sounds go throug hthat way, GPS, ring, CAr speaker phone, music.

The software that Samsung wrote or provided for the car dock is not very robust. You can't customize the "car dock home" screen, as you can with the normal home screens provided by TouchWiz/Android. Also, the line out audio carried by the USB port on the side cannot be separated from the audio carried by the headset jack. So when you are playing music through your car speakers via the USB line out, and you plug in a wired headset in the headset jack to make a call, the music will plan in the headset, not the speakers. You can't make a call and listen to music at the same time (except perhaps with a BT headset, but I don't use one).

It seems like a neat piece of hardware (the USB line out) is not well supported by the software.
