LG Octane vs LG Cosmos 2

Looking for a basic phone with qwerty keyboard.  Also looking for a phone with good battery life and good clarity and volume control ( I am a little hard of hearing).  Need to be able to hear ring tone or vibrate ring.  Also want blue tooth connectivity.  Would like honest opinions from the community?

 

Heard Octane had echoing problem.  Has this been resolved?

Regarding echo problems, there were several softare updates throughout last spring. I think the latest update (~ May) was approximately version 5 or 6, and I believe that issue has been resolved.

 

I'm starting to feel more unsure about the Octane being a practical phone to own because of the speaker volume. The speakers used for the ringers are located on the inside instead of the outside of the phone. Here and especially at verizonwireless.com, month after month there are complaints that even at maximum volume the ringer is hard or near impossible to hear. What good would it do my family if the rest of the phone's features are good enough if a person usually won't be able to hear the phone ringing ? When you visit a store that has a working demo phone, there's a menu setting that shows the phone number for that phone; try calling the store's cosmos2 and octane to get a rough idea of what the ringer volumes are like. You can usually find the phone number under menu > settings and tools > phone info > my number.

 

So I've been paying closer attention to the reviews for the Cosmos 2 and am wondering, too, if it'd be a better investment than the Octane. It's seeming to me so far, based on the customer reviews, that the two phones could be comparable in basic features like call quality, battery life, camera picture quality, and music player. The Cosmos 2 does not have a video recorder or video player, but the Octane's video recorder is limited to a resolution of 320x240.

 

If you get a chance, check out both phones in person at a cellphone store to make sure you can comfortably enough type on the keys.

 

There is one thing I need to look into further, though. While most of the Cosmos 2's features were easy to read, while I was in the store after I sent a text message from my phone to the store's Cosmos 2 I thought the Cosmos 2 used a small font size that was a bit too small for reading the text message. I ran out of time to see if that font size for reading the message can be changed.

 

Regarding battery life, here's something to beware aware of especially while when you come across any online complaints about battery life for the Cosmos 2. There is a feature on the Cosmos 2 and possibly the Octane called Daily Scoop. According to complaints on here, it appears to be preset to notify you of alerts. Apparently this over-frequent notifying drains the battery. The employees on here have advised that there are several steps to follow to turn off these alerts.

 

Note: If you want or need to try to increase the volume of ringers that you want to add to the phone (regardless of what brand/model we're talking about), for what it's worth I made a few suggestions in this (link).
