Droid X....Apps stuck in "downloading"

Apps will not download completely. The stick in "downloading" menu. HELP.......

Open Market and click Menu and My Apps and click the stop buttom in upper right corner of market will cancel...

I wanted to add something as well.. This "issue" has been going on for about a month for me as well. Frankly I think it is an issue with Google Market. I get this intermittent hanging at DOWNLOADING and usually aftewr restarting my phone, or the next day, it works fine... I've actually had a couple of Apps that I couldn't get to update until I deleted them and reinstalled them. Strange..

i had the same update problems with hanging updates & just reinstalled from the market & now see the check in notification area that somethings been updated.

i didn't delete the app, just reinstalled over it.

I have had some minor issues with the Market.

if I have multiple apps to update - no problems updating them all at once. Never had a problem

When I have only one app to update:

Sometimes I only get 'open' and 'uninstall' buttons - This is caused by the app not quite ready for updating - Solution is to wait 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
Sometimes I get 'downloading' screen that doesn't go away when I press on the app name - I think that this happens when I get a hiccup in the network after I press the name of the app. - Solution is to wait 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
Sometimes I get the 'downloading' screen after pressing the 'update' button but before I get the 'accept and download' button - Again, a hiccup in the network is suspected - Solution is to wait 30 minutes to a couple of hours.

In all cases, when I run into a problem, I back out of the Market to wait. Sometimes it works after a few minutes, sometimes its a couple of hours before I have a chance to check again. I think that only twice it lasted overnight.

At least, this has been my expireience over the past couple of months.

I was having a lot of issues also. I clears my data on the market app & all is well now. Hope this helps :smileyhappy:

Hello sls0463,

I am more than happy to assist with your apps not fully downloading onto your device. May I ask what app is giving you this issue? Also, how many of apps are giving you this problem? As Kooshie recommended, try clearing your cache and clear data on the phone. The steps are noted below.

Select Menu then Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select commonly used apps > Clear Data & Clear Cache

Once you have done this, please power the device off and on. Try to download a test app to verify that the download is successful. If you are still receiving the downloading message then please reply to this message so I can further assist.
