Problems with Calendar reminders with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and DroidX

Ever since the Gingerbread update, my calendar reminders have failed to work properly. Sometimes they go off hours or even days AFTER the event. Other times they never go off at all.

I've tried the Factory Reset (four times)... even clearing the Cache Partition. Problem still occurs.

My question.... what is Verizon Wireless going to do about this? I wish I could roll back my phone to Froyo 2.2, but that would void the warranty and theoretically cause problems. So, I'm stuck (as are many, many others).

I know there's the option of "getting a new phone". But I don't want to pay full price and my "new every 2" isn't up until late 2012.

So... Verizon Wireless.... will you be sending an update to fix the update? I rely on the calendar reminders for my business.

I believe a update may be on the way soon but I understand the frustration because the update does seem to be causing a few issues for some. Out of curiousity when you hard reset did you disable the auto restore option inder Settings / Privacy / Uncleck Automatic Restore? This feature has habit of restoring issues on after restore, usually disabling before logging into Google account helps some issues go away..

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the calendar notifications. I have escalated this issue to our product team so they can work with Motorola to come up with a resolution to this issue. Once a resolution is reached this will be available in a software update.

In response to whether I tried unchecking "auto update after restore", I did and the problem still exists.

BUT.... this is a WIDESPREAD problem that I find INCREDULOUS that Verizon isn't making this a priority to get fixed.

Does it have to come to the point where users contact their state attorney general's office? Better Business Bureau? Etc?

The calendar is a critical part of the phone's OS that people rely on (like myself) for business appointments, personal appointments, etc.

Come on Verizon... get this fixed.... PLEASE!!!

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? My calendar notifications don't always work and I have the latest 4.5.605.MB810 update from Motorola. This is a real problem for me as I heavily use these notifications. I use them as alarms to help me wake up at the right time, business meetings, and reminders to go to sleep. I find the morning and nighttime reminders to fail almost all the time. Others said this seems to coincide with long periods of inactivity prior to the timer, and my experience confirms this. Did Motorola put in some sort of power saving sleep mode if you don't use your phone for an hour or two? This is VERY frustrating and I am seriously considering alternatives. It is unacceptable to me that Motorola/Verizon have done nothing to fix this problem since it first appeared in June 2011 (4 months ago), especially since it is such a vital feature for some people and since they forced this upgrade on us. I am so mad. As if I don't have better things to do with my life than to deal with upgrade issues.

Please help! Would like to know if other apps or phones are better, [Edited to comply with Terms of Service]

I installed Load Monitor 2 weeks ago. It seemed to work until yesterday (12-03-2011) when my reminder came NINE AND A HALF HOURS LATE!! Here's what irritates me - my Motorola Droid 2 worked fine with 2.2. This started when the so-called upgrade to 2.3 came. The equipment didn't change, just the software. This sounds like something the code monkeys at Google need to fix. If they are unwilling, Verizon should provide customers with a reinstall of 2.2. Verizon may not be the cause of the problem, but at this point I only see them as complicit. They could offer a reinstall & make a lot of customers happy.

I have been tearing my hair out about this since July, trying just about everything. I thought I'd found a solution with Load Monitor (from this forum), but it stopped working after about a week. I called Verizon this morning, and lo and behold they're finally acknowledging this as an irresolvable issue. They're overnighting me a new device with 2.2 installed on it, and I'm supposed to return my current device to them. It took forever (and an unconscionable number of botched alerts) to get to this point, but we're finally here.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but getting a new device isn't going to change anything. Whatever Verizon or Motorola propose as fixes for you will be a complete waste of time. I've gone through 3 Droid X's, and now 3 Droid 2 Global's. Went through every imaginable fix: factory reset, new memory card, different after-market apps, etc. I even recently sent the phone to Motorola themselves to repair. First day I got it back it exhibited the same problems everyone is mentioning: calendar alerts do not go off when they should. I agree it is extremely frustrating, especially when you rely heavily on your calendar for work, etc. All I can say is when I used my old Blackberry Curve while my Droid was being "repaired", I never, EVER had a problem with calendar notifications. Motorola/Verizon/Google have really dropped the ball on this one. Talk about not giving a damn about the customer or the product. It seems to be rampant all over Motorola's products. I've searched the web for calendar issues with HTC, LG, and Samsung. So far I haven't found any threads listing the same problem, but they all use Android software as well, and that makes me nervous. I may have to bite the bullet and get an iPhone.

Mind you I have been dealing with this issue since May '11!! I plan on talking to customer service and demanding my free upgrade back, PLUS the difference I had to pay for my original Droid X. Completely inexcusable not to be able to make a functional calendar app. If Blackberry can do it (and to my knowledge, Apple as well), then so can everyone else.

On a side note, my phone also powers itself back up a few minutes after I power it off. That's another annoying problem. Why can't a phone just stay off???

Hey guys, there's an update for Droid X. I just downloaded it and System Version now is 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US. I did a test and the reminder was not late. That doesn't mean that the problem is solved, since the late reminder problem happens to me only sometimes. Have you guys downloaded the upgrade? Still having late reminders?

I gave up: got Verizon to switch me into an HTC Incredible 2. No problems with that calendar reminding me of my events...

That software update specifically included a fix for the "missing calendar notifications" ... so far so good .. fingers crossed.
