Dialer will not work on Droid X

I have a Droid X with android 2.3.3 installed. My problem started a few months ago. The dialer screen will not pop-up and let me use it no matter whether I try to call it up from the contact screen or directly from the shortcut. Even pulling the battery will not reset the issue. So, if I need to call someone who is not in my contact list I have to use the voice dialer. Not a huge problem but a little irritating none the less.

MitchW: try this an see if this helps Hit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications Then All schroll up to Dialer an Dialer Storage Clear the Cache of Both an Data of both an then force stop then Hit the home button.

If this does'nt solve the issue a System Cache clear or a Last ditch effort as they say a Factory Reset might be what you need to do to fix the issue an if you havent done any factory resets before or after New updates i suggest you consider that to tidy up things.

@Mitch -- you could also try booting the phone into SAFE MODE and seeif you can reproduce the problem -- just to rule out rogue 3rd party APPS.

To get into SAFE MODE:

- Power off

- Press & Hold te Menu button (far left button)

- Power up the phone, but continue holding the MENU button for like 1-2 mins.

Phone will say "SAFE MODE: in lower left corner. Test & see if it behaves the same way -- if it does, do what @B33 mentioned in Clearing Cache / Data before venturing into a (gulp) Factory Reset.

To get out of SAFE MODE, just power off & on as usual.

Rocking some Winamp on the Old X even after a year old she's still good as Gold.! :smileyhappy: B33
