Re: Pantech Crux double text messages

My phone (pantech crux) has the same software version as you state above, and has the problem with double text messages.

It also forgets calendar reminders when the power is cycled. The screen sometimes flashes back off when unlocking the front cover. There are simply software issues since everyone is trying to make the new phone quckly instead of making the new phone correctly... and apparently not following up with software updates either.

I don't blame pantech, I blame the verizon base software. My last verizon phone also had calendar reminder issues, the alarms time gets updated at the same time the daylight savings time does (making you an hour off)... and I expect the same from this phone.

I got the phone new on 24JUL2011 (2mos old) and it's had these issues from day one - the last phone I had for ~3 years.

I do understand your frustrations and concerns with the Pantech Crux issues! I would be happy to further assist.

Can you tell me what software version is installed on your Crux? Check by going to Settings (from Home Screen) > Phone Info > Then tap SW/HW Version. Just to advise you, our Product Team is aware of the issues and are working diligently to provide our customers a permanent fix.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with the version number.

SW version is D8999VWAD32F.225 - this is the latest version as of 6september2011.

I've logged a complaint with verizon, though they don't see any future updates for the phone in the works.

Here's the full list of pantech crux issues i've found so far.

1: The total call time cannot be reset on its own - while it does reset, the next call that comes in erases the 'zero' and it shows the total accumilated time again, where it should show just the time of the last call. This only resets if you clear all the timers.

2: The calendar reminders only alarm until the phone power is cycled, after a power cycle the alarm shows up that it should alarm, but it doesn't.

3: Duplicate text messages - that's where this forum thread started to begin with, well documented from what I can see, and no fix for it.

4: The battery life occasionally sucks, another forum mentioned it's after being attached to a PC, but I think it may be linked to any time it's charged... If USB is touched and the power isn't cycled afterwards, it has a low battery life (I.E. 12hrs from full charge to 0 bars).

5: I've also seen the screen occasionally flash off (black) for a second after unlocking the front face, very minor bug, but an issue to look into if there are software issues being fixed.

I got a refurb phone from calling verizon support... and initially the calendar reminders worked properly. I then set the alarms (2 of the 3) and the calendar broke again. Turning the alarm clocks off does not fix the calendar alarms, but resetting them (so they read alarm 1, alarm 2, alarm 3) does fix the calendar reminder issue.

This should be a very clear fix for the verizon software people. And i'd forgotten, but this is similar to my last verizon phone issue. I forget exactly, but something like if the alarm clock went off the calendar would no longer remind you - like they are using the same "the alarm already went off" flag for both alarms.

hope you can figure this out for new phones.

Well make that a temporary fix. After disabling the alarm clocks, I added a weekly reminder for monday, tuesday wed, etc... and it only went off on monday. So the calendar is still crappy - no reminders, which is really the only use for a calendar that you can enter appointments and such in isn't it?

Anyone know where there's an app to load on the phone to get a calendar / reminder feature set? UGH VERIZON!!!
