Droid X spacebar freeze while texting

After typing a word in a text message and pressing the spacebar, the keyboard hides and I then have to retouch the message area to bring up the keyboard again for the next word. I repeat this everytime I hit the space bar. Not fun.

I have the latest updates...

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Clear the data in th keyboard first before resorting the factory reset.

Press the menu button and then go to settings > applications > manage applications > all tab > scroll down the keyboard and select it. Press the "clear data" button.

Also there are similar thread about this issue in the Droid X forum. Search is your friend on this community.

I could imagine how frustrating that would be! I am happy to assist!

Are you using the factory installed keyboard for the Droid X, or are you using one you downloaded from the Android Market? Either way, it appears the keyboard application just needs to be reset. The application is called "Multi-Touch Keyboard". I am including a link with instructions how to reset the application below:

Only had to clear the Multi Touch Keyboard data and it all works for me without resetting...thanks for the tip. Been bothering me for days!

Thank you! I have been dealing with this for months on my Droid 2 and thought it was from falling in water a year ago! Now I can finally text again! And took less than a minute to fix!
