Apps Lost forever?

I have a quick question...my droid X froze this weekend and I'm getting a new phone sent to me same type droid x. My question what about my apps? Some I have I paid for and others were free but I put money into the games...also, some are free that I just don't want to lose them and have to start over...please tell me I can recover my apps. Help

when you get the new phone, and put in your gmail address it will know what apps you had

and it install them

 

but you will lose any data you had (example: game progress)
