We have two LAG Cosmos Touch phones in the family. One gets acceptable battery life and the other dies in less than a day. The only difference between the two is I have disabled data access (via the Verizon Web page options) on the phone that is getting less than a day out of the battery. In spite of what you have read and been told, disabling data via the web options does not eliminate the picture messaging feature.
My daughter uses the problematic phone and I took the time to try to figure out what is going on. It appears the phone is attempting to communicate via the data link even though there is no reason to communicate. I am guessing it attempting to access the data network but failing because I have it disabled. The phone will just light up for no reason and the data communication icon will appear in the phone display header. A quick Google search of this problem points directly to the Daily Scoop application.
I had her go into that Daily Scoop app and shut off the message options but those options appear to shut off the data at the server level (not the phone). When you select the disable message(s) button an user interface message is displayed that says it will take some time for the change to take effect. If the option changed something on the phone the change would happen instantly. It looks like the application is still attempting to communicate which drains the battery.
Any ideas of what I should do next?
