forwarding texts to an email address

I have tried to forward some text messages to my home email address and keep receiving the error message "messages with enhanced features cannot be sent to email"....why? I really need to get these emailed so that I can print them. What are the enhanced features?

"Enhanced features" are messages longer than 160 characters, signatures with special characters, or even the "signatures" themselves, smily characters, etc.
