Recall env3

They should recall the env3 it has way to many problems and was not built to last, my main issue is turning off randomly any now there sending me a new one for the second time with a battery because the first time they sent me one without the battery.

DON'T BUY IT is my mane advice.

It's the luck of the draw. My first one had the shutting off problem only, and they sent me another one that has absolutely no problems. My advice is to get a different phone off eBay or something if you are that unhappy with the phone. Who knows, you might get one that has no problems.

This will be my therd one if it has the same problem I'm telling them to get me a different phone around the same price as this one.

And I know a lot of people with this phone about 80 percent of them have this problem, the more you carry it in your pocket the worse it gets and I've read more problems with this phone than any other phone

Verizon will discontinue this phone anyways sooner or later. In with new and out with the old.

I am wondering why is it that no one is mentioning the option to apply a firmware upgrade. What is the current version in your phone and what is the latest version available from LG/Verizon. And how come they do not

mention firmware upgrades as a possible fix to this problem? All they have to do is provide us with a link to it.

My phone was version 02--Which is the original since it was activated- I had no idea that there were few releases since then--Current firmware version available now is Version 06. It sure was a huge project to do the firmware upgrade...but I was able to complete it. Now my phone has version 06 and so far, it hasn't shut off on its own since then.

I've heard many people complain that the upgrade did nothing to fix their shutting off problem. It did not work for mine either, which is when they decided to send me a whole new phone. That fixed the problem.

Humm...so, let's wait and see. My phone was shutting off quite often everyday. And since I did the Update to version 6 (last night at about 10:30 pm) I haven't had any issues.

I will ask my team members to try the upgrade themselves and see if they too get similar outcome as mine. They too are having the exact same problem and they too were not aware there was a firmware upgrade available.

I see. Yes, let me know if the problem happens to come back on your phone or not. That's interesting. You have done the upgrade pretty recently, though. I'm wondering if it will come back in time.

I had the EnV3 with the original software (bought aug 09) for almost a year and I noticed it would shut down on me whenever I tried to access my photo album. It also would randomly delete messages from my SENT box after 24 hours - but the phone itself (i.e. phone calls and texting) worked fine. Nonetheless, I figured I should be proactive and try to get it fixed before the 1 year manufacturer warranty ran out because I would be s.o.l after that...

The Verizon wireless phone rep was great and sent me out a "new" phone with next day shipping. When I received it, I was a little put off by the fact that it was one of the "certified like new" replacements, instead of a NEW, new phone, but I thought I would give it a try. Fortunately, I did not send my original phone back within the 10 days they requested because my sister and a close friend have both gone through hellish experiences with refurbished phones and I didn't want to give up my relatively OK original phone...

The "like new" phone took awhile to get use to (the newer software had different quirks, especially when texting w/the numerical keypad) but otherwise, it worked great - at first.... Within 2 weeks, I was having WAY worse problems with it - there was a serious lag time when accessing different applications (I'd press a button and it would take between 3-7 seconds to respond appropriately), the speakerphone didn't work half as well as my original phone (people didn't even know I was on speakerphone with my 1st EnV3!), the END button wouldn't work (made it interesting when talking to the verizon rep bc they technically have to wait until you hang up and end the call) and there were some other things but I can't remember all of them...

So, Verizon sent me ANOTHER phone - once again, refurbished... I sent back the defective one but still held on to my original and gave the 2nd "like new" phone a shot... same thing happened after 2-3 weeks... At this point, I was getting frustrated with these failing refurbished phones, so I went to an actual store and asked if it was possible to get a REAL new phone and they said NO - but they had "like new" in the back, if I would like to switch it out again - at that point, I was using my original phone, so I said no because I wanted to hold on to my original.

For the THIRD time, they sent me a like new replacement EnV3 and this one actually made it past the 2 week point but failed after about 6 weeks - same problems as the other replacements... at this point, I fear that it may not be the "like new" status that is causing these problems - it has got to be the "updated" software... and since that was my 3rd replacement, Verizon has now sent me a similar phone - the samsung alias 2, which I had contemplated getting originally.

I literally got it in the mail today (technically, I got one earlier this week, but it was sent without the back cover, so they had to send me another one using the "new customer" package so that the back cover would be included). Interestingly, the first Alias 2 they sent me (without the back cover) was a certified "like new" replacement and the second/new customer with the back cover is a certified "pre-owned" device... I actually found these threads while googling the difference between the 2 types of "certification" (i.e. which one is more likely to fail?!?) but I have yet to discover my answer...

I haven't been able to play around with it too much but I figure I'll give it a go for a month - if there is even the slightest of issues, I'm throwing in the towel and going back to my original EnV3... it might be scuffed up since I took off the screen protector and I may never be able to access my photo album w/o first shutting it off/on or refer back to a text I sent bc the phone already deleted it, but at least everything else would work well...

Ultimately, the software engineers need to step up and come out with a new upgrade or something bc seriously, EnV3 is an awesome phone and I love it - more than most phones I've had - but if the SAME problems keep on happening to the updated phones, obviously, something needs to be adjusted! It's a shame the texter's dream phone is doomed to fail bc they can't program a software that doesn't crash after a month or two...

Sorry to hear about all of these problems. However, just to make sure we are not mixing one with the other. The "problem" solved by the Firmware Upgrade- Version 06 was that my phone was shutting off all by it self, at random. That issue has been corrected.

On you case there is a unique function: "when you try to access your phone album". As well as other functions that are giving you specific trouble.

What version does your phone have?

If it doesn't have latest _ V 06, make sure you do it.

Do you save your pictures in the phone memory or into the external memory (Micro Card)?. I suggest you change the option to save all pictures and media files to the Micro SD card- it is better. I am using the Max memory Micro card-which is 8 gig.

You need to change settings for each item: Pictures, Videos, music and sounds. Just get a big size Micro card and start saving all you pictures and files to the Card--that will free the Phone memory for the phone use only-which is always good.

I had my env3 firmware upgraded to version .06 or whatever at a Verizon Wireless store. I had to leave the phone for an hour. (And I had to wait an hour for service!) I still have the same problem as does my wife's phone which doesn't have the upgraded firmware. The battery is fully charged and I make two or three short calls and the low battery signal starts. Sometimes it shuts off and other times I put it down and the battery goes back up to almost full power. And the phone still shuts off when it feels like it anyway - whether I'm making a call, making changes in my address book or creating a calendar event.

I see it this way. The price we paid for the phones is a loss. If the phones aren't replaced with same or similar equipment that is always fully functional I will cancel my contract which runs on average $130.00 a month. I believe that the early cancellation fee is prorated. If not, then another loss. However, the loss of my business will surpass the loss of my monthly rates times the months left on my contract. And I will forward this issue to other wireless users using any means necessary.

Aside from the above mentioned, I will contact the Federal Trade Commission about this issue since it appears to be widespread.

Btw, when I went to the VW store the technician seemed a bit too accommodating. I asked him if it were a battery problem and he said no. Probably not, I would guess a cell phone issue. My battery charges normally so I would have to assume it's the phone. My wife and I will be visiting the VW store on Wednesday, 9/1/10. The above mentioned solution will be used if our needs are not met. AND I will call the FTC about this issue since it seems very prevalent.

I thouht if you didn't send the broken phone back in a certain amount of time you would be charged full price for it so how were you able to hang on to the original and not send it back and not get charged? When they replaced my sons ENV2 in store they took his old one back on the spot to send it in. Mary

Verizon.......... Force LG to recall the env touch or vx11000 or whatever it's called. if it's not the phone, but your software fix it. I have the misfortune of having two on my family plan. I have all the problems described in various places on this board. My neighbor also has this phone and these problems.

Verizon, you owe it to us and our exspensive plans to rectify this problem. You know it's bad and you should be concerned
